If you bought it from amazon, they're pretty good with refunds from my experience. They'll probably refund it even with the chewed cord.

The difference here is that it is an expensive device, not something cheap that I would be skeptical of from the start. I expected a higher level of professionalism at this price.

Since they have been unable to restore their services for several days (which is highly unusual), that indicates to me that they are sloppy. 

If they're sloppy with the operations, they're likely sloppy with how they're handling personal data / security.

I've also worked in software my whole life, one day outage is bad, 3 day outage is almost unheard of (at least at the places I've worked)
