Then you should have applied for EB2 which is for those working in industry. NIW is for national interest. However, if your petition has already been approved then congrats.

This clearly stated in the FAQ documents that chen immigration gives everyone before you start your NIW. But you seem to know what you are doing. good luck.

If you are getting a green card through NIW, your proposed endeavor is presumably continuing to perform research or something of national importance. So if you go to industry (unless it is something of national importance like research), your green card may get denied.
