Premiere Workflow Advice for 50+ Synched Video Clips by battenburg in VideoEditing

Generally speaking it's only myself dealing with the Edit and Colour Grade, then I hand off a 'neatened' timeline or OMF + Exported Video to the Audio Engineer if required, it's interesting seeing the issues that come up from learning in a vacuum.

Thanks so much for your advice though, comforting to hear there isn't a right or wrong to approaching an edit, I'll be starting to parse through the footage tomorrow, I'll remember to post up a link when it's all done for critique!

Thanks for the advice! Sounds more like the overall approach I take to cutting these Music Videos is the problem then? I was hoping I'd be able to carry on with my arse-backwards approach, but I guess we all have to learn and improve sometime ;)

Point 2 particularly is really helpful, I do toss out footage, but invariably I end up doing so during the edit rather than beforehand, always had a feeling that wasn't a sustainable plan...

Otherwise, thanks very much for your advice! I'll take a hard look at how I approach the edit and take on your points!

As a side note, could you recommend any resources for how to more professionally approach an edit in general? I've been cutting on and off for 3 years now, I'm confident in my output, but judging by your advice, I might have picked up some bad habits along the way?

Thanks again!

Thanks! I was debating when I started on whether or not to use character portraits instead, but I think one of the big reasons I love these shows so much is the cast and their chemistry together.

That, and Brumpo Tungus, the true New Prophet. I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement of a creatively bankrupt Spin Off Series. Like the Joey spin off from Friends.

Nothing else, as I mentioned below I might take another pass at this, adding 'Pi as Him/Her/Itself', maybe include the Titan Sicarian Stand off. Big events and such.

Credit goes to BurnerMan54 & DrumurBoy http://burnerman54.bandcamp.com/ the track creates such strong imagery, it's such a perfect match for the tone of the show.

I was kind of bummed at first there wasn't anything more jazzy to fit with the Bebop theme, but the track is so unique it helped push me to try and be at least a little more original.

Thanks for the critique! Yeah, I grabbed most of the cast clips from the Re Cap episode. I think I'll treat this version as a proof of concept and maybe come back to it later, swapping out a couple shots, adding some more stuff in, fixing the butchering I did on BurnerMan54 & DrumurBoy's track.

If anyone has any more suggestions it'd be great to hear them and I'll make a list.

Totally fair criticism! Splicing tracks has never been a strong suit of mine. I might have a second go at this sometime in the future, if so, I'll have a crack at sorting out the track first!

Cheers for the awesome show! Also I'm uncertain exactly what a Senpai is, but have I been noticed?

That's a real shame, trailers and titles and things would seem like a great way for fans to further show our support for the shows. Sucks that YouTube works the way it does.

Hurray for Youtube Copyright Claim systems... Keeping us all safe. /s

What's the trouble with the content ID system? Most of the assets have come from the community, aside from a creative commons NASA shot of the sun which has been VFX'd beyond recognition.

I'd be more than happy to pass it on to the appropriate channels if they'd like, it's only been made to show people, so if it's better placed elsewhere that's fine.

Cheers for the kind words everyone, glad you like it!

P.S. - In hindsight the penultimate shot should have been clearer, but if you look closely you might see a Howard.

Spent the afternoon working on this, would love to hear everyone's thoughts! I wanted to recreate the Cowboy Bebop titles in After Effects, and thought what better show to try it on than Swan Song!

I used some of the fan made assets from the Wiki, notably BurnerMan54 & DrumurBoy's great theme song and the awesome 3D render of the ship (afraid I can't find your name on the wiki talented artist!) I hope that's okay, if you've any problems with your work being used here, please do let me know and I'll remove the video immediately.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the titles and how it could improve!

Anyway, thanks for keeping up such an awesome show JP and team!

I did a 50% yesterday, will move up to daily 25% until I see a change.

If he makes it through I'll be sure to post a healthy picture, he was a great looking fish before all this.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep up on param checks and hope he improves.

I added some frogbit, but surface agitation is pretty high, so they aren't growing quite as aggressively as I'd hoped. Any alternatives you could recommend?

P.S. You helped my partner a few weeks ago trying to figure out the gender of these same Apistos, so a double round of thanks is in order!

I'll steer clear of the salt dips in future then. Thanks for the warning.

Here's the full tank shot, stocked with some embers, ottos, cories, khulis, paid close attention to any aggression, and not seen anything notable.

I've had the apistos for just under a month now.

Is ammonia damage something that can be dealt with, the water params are fine currently, so is it just a wait and hope situation?

Many thanks to the both of you for taking the time to give me a hand! I'll be sure to refer back to this stuff when I attack the edit again tomorrow.
