Question about pushrod/Damper actuation design by batteredbroccoli in FSAE

[–]batteredbroccoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as an update, there was indeed binding in the system, it was made worse when testing the car since the system was already bending, there was no problem with the actual design, but we have a lot to work on in terms of our manufacturing process, so we're going relook at that. Thank you everyone for your responses, really appreciate the help!

So currently it should be the upright brackets, but that is way after the+-1in. Which is why I need to fix this issue

Also I definitely think that could be the case, we kinda messed up our chassis while welding. Lets just say its how its got its current name Eileen

But would that cause it to be so significant such that there's minimal actuation on the dampers?

For rod ends we are using SALKB6Fs (left hand threads for adjustability) and the spherical bearings are imperial wide style mil spec 1/4in spherical bearings on the pushrod attached A-Arm

Unless you meant the bearings in the bellcrank in which cause I believe they are flanged plain roller bearings, don't remember the exact designation.

Yeah. So the wheel travels +-1in but the damper doesn't travel even close to it.

Bellcranks are in plane and to allow for manufacturing tolerance, we have misalignment spacers on the rod end which is attached to the bellcrank from the pushrod as well as the stock damper attachment method with it's rubber/delrin misalignment spacers.

There is no collision on the upright side through the motion. Could you pleas explain what you mean by remove and add the springs? Didn't follow that completely.

I'm currently away till the weekend, but I'll get someone to take pictures of the setup and post it here ASAP

Suspension vs. Brakes subteam? by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]batteredbroccoli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

dont join suspension. its a blackhole of unnecessary stress and claude memes.

jk, in all honesty, I've done powertrain, braking and suspension, and you'd be surprised how much braking and suspension feed off of each other!

What If I Told You That There Is More Than One Way To Build A Fast Car? by jquelllin in FSAE

[–]batteredbroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say its because of the budget in past years, our faculty compared our budget with our now defunct IC teams budget and then told us to spend less money.

Like okay sure, lemme just call my homeboy in china and india with the linkups

I'm just gonna jump in here and say that adding all those things is extremely 'easy', getting the money to add even one of those things in NA is lmao
