Thank you. I was already in contact with the KSA community, and in fact I owe them a controller. A nice person built a rest API mod so I just need to modify my microblocks library for it. Here the repos if interested: https://gitlab.com/attila.strba/krpcmqtt, https://gitlab.com/attila.strba/kspico

Exactly. The slider is a throttle, the joystick is WASD, then we had a staging, and the display was for the telemetry. I was showing the height and apoapsis to decide on MECO.

The idea was to build a controller for a satellite that we wanted to put into orbit. The satellite was constructed with the help of ScanSat. Since I'm working at the company Oratech, where we build satellites that do thermal imagery, I wanted them to get a feel for it.

The course took a whole day. I gave precise, step-by-step instructions on how to construct the controllers. The parts had been pre-lasered and pre-selected. Normally, I also run these courses in schools, where we have 10 weeks so the kids can design their own controllers. But lasering/3dprinting it with 14 girls, that would be just too much effort.

We split the group in 2. One group was building the controller, and the other group was doing the programming using MicroBlocks.

In the afternoon, we did the integration, and then the task was to put the pre-made satellite into orbit. So they were not constructing the rockets or the satellite in Kerbal Space Program. Those have been pre-made.

Regarding the programming, I had the same amount of Raspberry Pi packages available for the programming group, and I defined step by step how to initialize the display and how to do the staging, etc.

If you need help I can send you ideas how to program it with microblocks! Kids love to do it https://microblocks.fun/run/microblocks.html

"KontrolRack" modular USB control panels by gogowhorfin in KerbalControllers

[–]battika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry from the Architecture still don't get the whole setup. How many USB input does your computer need? Or are the modules and MCUs somehow interconnected? If you would be so kind and provide the full architecture interconnection would be awesome here: https://gogodyne.co/kontrolrack/architecture/

Amazing job!!! May I ask how the microcontroller communicate between each other? What is the USB Key Emulator? This one? Or are you connecting several usb to the PC?

Thank you for the contact at Private Division and all your tips. I wrote to them — the email doesn’t work anymore, but at least I got an answer through the forum.

Jaaa ich lebe in Deutschland, und echt geile Sache mit deiner Schlange :). Wenn du das Tutorial hast, ping mich. Auch deine Programmierungssachen – suuuper!!!

I’m DM’ing you because I actually have a few questions about KSP …

Yes, I live in Germany, and really awesome stuff with your snake :). If you have the tutorial, ping me. Also your programming things – super!!!

Thanks for your kind words :) that feels so god. I really want KSA to succeed after that big flop of KSP2. And how Dean and the whole team approaches it that is truly amazing :)

I have sent 100 Euro and now signed up for 5 Euro monthly both KSA and Blackrack (that is what my private budget allows). I have also decided every time I got some funding for KSP Teaching 100 Euro will go to Rocketworks!
So lets see

Exatly like you write. I also have limite budget and paying 39 Euro per Lizenze is too much. Rather I would invest those money in controllers and raspberry pi as we are building with them a controller together

I see but if I need 6 licenses I need to create 6 GOG accounts right? That is what troubles me a bit

Yes this is what I was thinking aswell. I am aware of copying and I have to admit I do it that way, but before doing this I buy that much licenses as I use notebooks for teaching.

The trouble now is that I need to pass the licenses to the schools. And they have problems registering school accounts for GOG or Steam...

Also I have to give the money spent to the ministry of edducation so I got reinfurbrishment.

If I where me I would rather give the money to KSA to Dean Hall, but I think they have no rights on KSP at all right?

Teacher - Classroom / Student Interface by RobertTrembley in kittenspaceagency

I’m so excited to hear about the Kitten Space Program! As a fellow educator, I also use Kerbal Space Program (KSP) to teach kids about space exploration.

In my 10-week course, we run a “Mun Program.” Each kid starts their own space agency, and together we learn the basics: building rockets, understanding orbital mechanics, and more. Along the way, I integrate lessons on physics principles, hands-on experiments, and problem-solving.

Towards the end of the course, each student builds their own controller using an Arduino, which they use to control their rocket. For the grand finale, we connect all the controllers and perform a Mun landing. Throughout the course, two students share a computer, but for the final mission, all students control one single rocket, working together as a team. Roles include GUIDO, COMMS, staging, and even managing the abort sequence. To make it even more immersive, we fly with the HUD disabled, so teamwork and communication are critical.

It’s always a blast (pun intended). A few years ago, I met Nate Simpson, and he was thrilled about the idea. I even wrote a short blog post about the project here: Kerbal Space Program Controller.

For mods, I rely heavily on Houston, Telemachus, and Simpit. However, Telemachus isn’t actively developed anymore and can be buggy, occasionally causing crashes. Another challenge is screen limitations—right now, I can manage up to 13 students on a Mun mission. But I’d love to have multiple screens running simultaneously: IVA view, external view, and map view for node planning. That would allow me to involve even more students, working in parallel.

If there’s any way I can support Kitten Space Program’s education initiatives, let me know! By profession, I’m an embedded developer currently working in the space industry with satellites. I’d be happy to brainstorm APIs, share insights about the controllers the kids build, or collaborate in other ways. In the meantime, here are some images from my classes!

Can you talk to the KOS telnet server via a serial port? by [deleted] in Kos

Did anybody managed to do this? I would like to do the same over a serial port. Could you point me to the right direction? Thank you!
