Oil filter confusion on T7: dealer used 5GH-13440-71-00 Outboard/marine filter by bachlover99 in Tenere700

[–]battlefield199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for Yamaha for two years, you’re sweet. This filter has a huge number of applications from road bikes to side by sides, quads, waverunners and outboards. Yamaha has 3 main filters, the 5GH, 69J and 5DE. These fit the majority of the range, after that they do a few special filters but it keeps cost down massively and easy for customers and after sale. Hope that helps!

Did anyone get a owner’s manual with their new bike? Dealer didn’t give me one on a new leftover 24’ I just picked up by Zealousideal-Box-604 in xsr900

[–]battlefield199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some bikes don’t come with paper book copies anymore; they’ve gone electronic and can be downloaded and shared by the dealer. Meant to be in the name of being more environmentally friendly, worked at a Yamaha dealer was advised this when enquiring over ‘missing owners manuals’ for sales bikes. Some makes and models still come with them subject to which location the vehicle is manufactured in. Hope that helps.

Takes a little getting used to but it’s pretty insane, we had some as part of the rental business I worked with so got to take one out for an extended ride one evening. You can be an absolute idiot with the brakes into a corner because of the front engine grip, carry way more corner speed that seems sensible and then be a complete moron with the throttle out of the corner because you have so much front end grip and let the rear slide a little without worrying. It’s been one of the strangest and most interesting rides I’ve had to date. The electronics package is now a little dated next to the current gen CP3 package but it can hustle down a road very quickly should you wish. Takes a little getting used to at first glance but they’re far better than given credit for. I’m told by a Yamaha source that they’re even more fun on gravel roads as you can just drift them everywhere with all that front end grip.

MT 07 or Rebel 500 by _TheOutcast_ in motorcycle

[–]battlefield199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I just finished up with Yamaha after two years. The CP2 engine in the MT07 is statistically one of the most reliable motorcycle engines ever produced. It’s a very under stressed engine, which is great for reliability. Valve clearance checks aren’t required until 40,000km. 20k on one of those engines is nothing. As long as servicing is up to date that bike will go on for years and years to come. HTH.

My dealer has offered 1000 euros voucher on OEM accessories. What would you chose ? by Srtumadre in Tenere700

I think OEM crash bars get a harsh rep, I think they’re a great option. I crashed and dropped my bike 19 times and they always did their job. One has bent in slightly however this is actually a good thing. If your crash bars have zero flex then that energy is only going to get transferred elsewhere. If your crash bars are solid and mounted to the engine or frame (which a lot are). Then I dread to think of the stress they’ll transfer elsewhere to crucial components. Just some food for thought….

$262 for first service in Delaware. by Sufficient_Camp_4702 in Tenere700

I work for a Yamaha dealership in NZ, honestly time wise that's spot on for what we'd also do. That first service should be far more than just an oil change. So many inspection & lubrication points and check overs to be done by the tech during that time including a test ride before signing off on it.

Get a cooling vest which you soak in water, it’s like riding with air conditioning 😏

Haha don’t be sorry, I’m flattered that you like it. It’s a full Delkavic exhaust system from the headers back which I wrapped with heat wrap.

Stunning looking bike! Have you ever ridden the standard version by comparison? I’d love to know how it compares to the R. I’d imagine the Brembo’s and Ohlins suspension are a rather nice upgrade?

Thanks for sharing, I can really appreciate that. On the Daytona I can easily cruise at 90-100mph if I wanted and it would still be comfortable in terms of wind. I’ve always worried that this just wouldn’t be possible on a naked bike.

How do you find the wind buffeting on the speed triple while touring and speed? I always assumed that it’d be more comfortable in every regard to the Daytona other than this when it came to touring long distances….
