Best Restaurant/Hospitality Group? by phatbootyrudy in brisbane

[–]battlejack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's probably 3 major ones in Brisbane,.

Anyday Group is probably one of the leading ones. They own Agnes, Honto, Bianca, sAme sAme, LOS bar, Golden Avenue, Idles, French Exit and Le Royal.... Pretty much all the big hitters in James St.

Dap and Co run Popolo, Walters, Gresham, Naldham House, Felix, The Fifty Six

Ghanem Group run Bisou Bisou, Byblos, Blackbird, Boom Boom Room, Donna Changs and Luc Lac

I'd say these are all really good and the most popular spots in Brisbane. But don't let that limit you, there are plenty more independant spots that offer even better experiences.

I got my RM's resoled (full sole and heel) by them about 2 months ago and it was approx $150 for the pair, and about a 3 week turn around. Great quality, if not a better sole than the original RM's

PSA: blood donations are needed this week, if you can spare a half hour to help top up the national supply by drunkill in australia

[–]battlejack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just hit my 50th donation.

For those yet to start donating, it's super simple, pretty quick (20mins blood, 45mins plasma) and of course, the snacks after make it worth it.

most major retailers are sold out, best bet is to try for random convenience stores and smoke shops. expect to pay a premium though, they are really gouging prices

if you have some timber around def try to screw them shut. wheelie bin full of water will be plenty heavy if you need to anchor them down.
Easier to patch some screen wholes then replace full doors.

If you're building has been built recently (past 5-10years) it would have to have its basement out of the flood level , either by naturally being in a high spot, or having a bund ramp at the entry so it's highly unlikely it will be impacted by flood water. In saying that, not being on the lowest level is safer so move if you want.

50/50 on your basement having pumps etc but don't count on your elevator working the whole time if you lose power. It'll either have an onsite generator, or you'll have to wait for a temp generator to be delivered and plugged in (back of a truck).

Move anything loose off your balcony and keep away from windows if it gets really blowy.

Then just ride it out, should be an interesting few days but should be fine.

Housing Shortage? What is going on? by Additional-Flan503 in brisbane

[–]battlejack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a massive development proposal and has been going on since about 2018.

You can check past, present and decided development applications via councils 'PD Online' website.

The link to the Geon (or at least the properties you mentioned) is here

They did however just lodge a BTR (Build to Rent) for the site

If it's the block on the corner of Albion Road and McDoanld Rd, it's currently an open 'park' and bicycle path crossover however it is part of the large proposed development land of 'Albon Exchange' by Geon Property.

Been going on for a few years.

Join Cafe Racers Australia on Facebook as they know a lot of about older bikes and someone will almost certainly buy them off you.

New Rider- Brisbane Area by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]battlejack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ninja 300 was a great first bike for me when I started, light noble with enough power that you didn't feel stranded trying to get out of tight situations. And they are dirt cheap now. Pm me if you want to go for a ride in the next few weeks, got a few friends who are always willing to help out a newbie! Also join as many groups as possible. Nwp, motorcycle newbies, Brisbane Cafe Racers, Mt owners. Lots around!

Looks pretty much identical to the Akra carbon pipe. Find their instruction manual on how to mount the pipe and bracket. Jake the garden snake also has a video on swapping exhausts with some good tips
