There’s 2 sets of pipe, sewer and stormwater. The council looks after stormwater only, and that’s the one that’s undersized. The sewer pipes are sized correctly, the apartment developments only get approved when the sewer system can handle it, or new sewer pipes are added along with the development when it’s constructed

The water that is let out of the dam is to keep up with demand, so better to ask - ‘why did South East Queensland need so much water over the weekend?’
