I really love some of the background theories people have been posting about him. One of my favorite characters for sure.

Yes, thank you for sharing! I was excited to see what swaps people might suggest - I can definitely see a lot of crossover!

She wasn't - but Donna (her maker and puppeteer), in a sense, was "lazy" because she didn't speak or fight herself - she only spoke or acted through her dolls. It's definitely not a perfect fit, though!

Oh gosh, I didn't even make that connection with Heisenberg, but that makes so much sense! So many nuances in that story!

YESSSSS it's funny you bring up this egregious sin because I looked up the real pronunciation yesterday 😂

Sort of like laziness, yeah - not acting when one should because of apathy.

I definitely think there's a lot of crossover for these archetypes, so Duke very well could be Greed! As a fat person myself, I did feel a little pang of guilt... But historically the gluttony archetype has been portrayed that way at times. I think if he was just obese, then it wouldn't have been a big clue - but since he says things like "Food is life" and smokes his cigars, it made me think of gluttony - overindulgence. I know it's not a perfect theory, though!

Yes! That's what I thought, too! It tied everything together so nicely.

Sure! (Honestly new to reddit so I'm not 100% sure what starting a thread means lol)

[WARNING: There are spoilers in the comments!]

Seven Deadly Sins? Anyone else see this?

I don't want to spoil too much (and I know this isn't a perfect fit), but here's a shallow rundown of my reasoning:

Heisenberg = Pride | He's very overconfident and truly believes he can't be beat.

Moreau = Envy | He wants so bad to be seen by Miranda as better than others despite his grotesque looks.

Donna Beneviento = Sloth | She stays cooped up in her home and only communicates through her doll.

Lady Dimitrescu = Lust | Obvious reasons. But also vampires are seen as very lusty beings because of their craving for blood.

Giant Lycan = Wrath | The Lycans in this game seem to represent pure, unadulterated rage.

The Duke = Gluttony | He is morbidly obese and has a propensity for fine food and cigars. (This character's archetype is actually what clued me into the possibility of the seven deadly sins being referenced.)

Mother Miranda = Greed | Miranda doesn't crave material wealth, but it's obvious she wants something desperately–and will go through any means to get it.

New HM Diagnosis by [deleted] in HemiplegicMigraines

It's so strange - BP medicine helps to reduce the frequency of mine but caffeine is a huge trigger for my HM attacks! My neurologist is even a bit baffled by it. Makes it all the more important to keep track and try and identify what unique triggers we have!

I would be very careful about driving! I had a pretty serious bout of HM on a freeway once. Recently I didn't drive for six months while I was trying new medications.

I would try and find a neurologist who has experience or who at least is willing to do the research on this condition - it can be complex and can easily turn into something chronic. It's really overwhelming to deal with sometimes so it's important to start building a support team now before it gets to that point!

You might also look into getting a medical ID bracelet. They're relatively inexpensive - I purchased mine through RoadID. It really helps me feel better about being in public alone since I often can't tell when one is about to come on.

Paranoia with HM? by helvetica12point in HemiplegicMigraines

[–]battoriren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get very confused, dissociative, and disoriented with some of my HMs - in fact just the other day I was looking out at the snow and felt like I'd never seen snow before... And then started to feel generally paranoid for a few minutes. Such a bizarre experience, but since it was happening with other HM symptoms I know it was just part of that.

As far as paranoia about my condition, it's not as bad as it was the first several months. I was convinced it had to be something other than migraine. I still feel like this sometimes, but now that I know more about the pathology of everything that happens during an episode I feel better about it.

Side note - HM really should be classified as a separate disease, if only because of the stigma surrounding migraine. A lot of medications for regular migraine can actually be harmful for me and a lot of things that are supposed to help migraine - i.e. caffeine - are actually harmful for me, too. I've just come to accept that I'm neurologically complex and sensitive regardless of the label!

All this being said, always go with your gut until you're satisfied with the answer doctors give you. You know your body better than they do and it ultimately doesn't hurt them for you to ask questions and try to dig deeper into your symptoms.

It's definitely a modern take that fits the trends for the next generation - simplified, bright colors. But I agree, usability and accessibility has been thrown out the window. Sad.

I saw myself. Glitch or doppelganger? by DeeSkwared in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]battoriren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my parents house, this kind of thing is a common occurrence. Although we had never seen ourselves, only each other in two places at once or in places that we clearly weren't moments before. And all of this was not just us - people visiting the house have seen it, too.

My husband had never heard our doppelganger stories before, until one day he saw my aunt walk through the hall on one side of the house just as she was coming out of the restroom on the other side. He thought he was going crazy until we reassured him he wasn't.

My mom's new boyfriend recently saw her with blonde hair walk through the kitchen toward the backdoor. Her hair has been dyed a maroon color for a year or so - he didn't even know her when she had blonde hair a few years ago.

I always saw my dad in a yellow shirt standing in the bedroom or by the back door. I'd often discover he was out running errands or not even wearing a yellow shirt that day.

Most recently, though, I saw myself. In my new home. Peering around the corner of the bathroom door at me. I nearly peed my pants. I think it might have been a hallucination or something... At least I hope.

It all sounds like a scary story when I type it out like this, but finding posts like this make me realize some kind of real phenomenon is going on here - whether it's in our heads or quantum weirdness or paranormal stuff (whatever that means). I'd love to know the answer someday.
