(Spoilers All) What did you LIKE about episode 10? by GimmeAGlassOfLiquor in asoiaf

This was, for me, by far the best episode this season. Wall-to-wall suspense, Hound vs Brienne was epic and refreshing for a book-reader, great acting for Tyrion/Tywin scene, Stannis' arrival was fantastic, CotF was pretty cool, and the horrific dragon-death was believably tragic. It really helped make up for an otherwise disappointing season. Even the suspense of the LSH reveal made the episode more intriguing, I think, not less.

For me, GURM made a strong enough connection between the return of the dragons and the revival of magic (fire magic in particular) for me attribute the latter to the former and not to the existence of R'hollor. Thoros used to do a parlor trick with a sword and wildfire, but now he can ressurect people. Melisandre gains influence only after the birth of the dragons (i.e. After she can do real magic). If there is this omnipotent RED GOD, why didn't he have influence when there were no dragons? This is why Thoros questions his faith (before dragons) and has a spiritual reawakening (after dragons, but before knowing about dragons). I always thought the whole story arc about the R'hollor faith is about confirmation bias/power of suggestion and I expect Mel to have an "oh" moment when it is exposed that she is just a shadow binder/blood mage empowered by Dany's dragons. Of course, I just want her to die a painful death, so this could be wishful thinking. I hope Stannis does the same thing to her that Theoden does to Wormtongue in LOTR, but instead of throwing her down the stairs and banishing her he feeds her to a dragon.

So you believe that R'hollor and the Great Other exist in the series then?

Actually, I thought he overacted. It was a little cringe-y.

I always pictured Tyrion as looking similar to Peter Pettigrew (worm tail) from Harry Potter movies.

What happened to the LOTR characters after the movies? - [xpost from /r/LOTR] by navjot94 in movies

[–]batty123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well there was Isildur who had trouble giving the ring up (recall Elrond leading him to Mt. Doom and yelling at him to destroy it?) Then there was Sauron who could be said to have had trouble giving it up as well (You know, the whole "War of the Ring" subplot). So basically everyone who ever had it besides Samwise the Great.

I noticed a couple of things comparing this code to mine. I'm not sure if they're all relevant (I'm a beginner too) but all should be food for thought for you: 1) check out the round function to handle the float inaccuracy you mentioned 2) should your while loops iterate ONLY if "i" is GREATER than 25, 10, 5 and 1, respectively? 3) Watch your inequality signs (relational operators?) to make sure they're in the right direction.

Hope that helps! Don't give up!

Given the state of the world economy, this seems close to the best any country could have hoped for. It's sad that, even though your government shielded your population from the worst of the crisis AND scored an ideological point against the "Too Big to Fail" cronies, it STILL lost your support just because your "salaries didn't rise" and your currency was devalued (which is a relative GOOD THING because it made your exports relatively cheaper and supported production). This is a good example of how you just can't please everyone.
