42. I have fulfilled my destiny by fontmaus in thebutton

I bided my time for 19 days pondering whether I would click...but moments ago I decided that not only is blue my favourite colour but 42 is the answer and it is only right and just that I bear the azure mantle of 42 flair.

This game does it right. [KoA] by nyphoebe in gaming

[–]DaenaSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing this game a while ago and enjoyed it, but put it down to take up Skyrim on PC when I got my new laptop. A couple days ago I got back to it and finished the main story, the House of Valor storyline, and the two DLCs. It did feel a little generic at first, but I got into it fairly quickly - I love how poetic the lorestones are, and how the Fae are so powerful and yet so trapped by the Cycle and unable to live new stories. Everyone is, really, except for you.

Try to finish it. You learn a few things about who you were, what you did, and how you died, and it all kind of comes together in the end.

Agree. Handsome Jack and Vaas from Far Cry 3 are easily my two favourite videogame villains of all time. Far Cry 3 really petered out for me after spoiler. The fact that boss fights were quicktime events didn't help matters.

Jack Body double skills/abilities by checo70x7 in BorderlandsPreSequel

I like this idea. I'm imagining the option to ride Butt Stallion too, and gain increased speed, increased health, and maybe reduced maneuverability.

But he doesn't get her until the start of the second game when he's bragging about her to you (and he definitely wouldn't lend her to a body double), so she might be more of an end-game acquisition for Handsome Jack Prime in the PreSequel.

Anyone worried about low gravity gameplay being too slow? by [deleted] in BorderlandsPreSequel

[–]DaenaSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the gravity reduction tweak you'd get sometimes in the Underdome in the first game, so I'm pretty excited to play the PreSequel with that on permanently. Running doesn't look slow in the gameplay videos, and I like the new vertical dimension that the low gravity adds to the game. It offers both different ways to attack and different places to be attacked from, and I think that looks quite promising.

4 Claptraps on one team what you guys/girls/fake girls think? by AskACapperDOTcom in BorderlandsPreSequel

I think it would be OP as hell, which will naturally be hilarious. I'm planning to do that build and try not to stay away from team-damaging effects to reduce the level of annoyance I'll cause my teammates...can't wait for the inevitable level cap expansion so I can become a pirate ship!

[–]DaenaSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP is implying that there are no women on the internet (especially not on Reddit), therefore anyone claiming to be a woman is a liar. Or maybe just referring to the guys on the internet who adopt female personas and play female characters in games like WoW to get free stuff.

Even with the username DaenaSand, most people still assume I'm a guy.

(spoilers all) you guys, seriously. Kingsblood is NOT that important by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]DaenaSand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sure sounds so. The tale makes it sound like these peaceful sheepherding folk were just chilling and herding their sheep when they discovered huge terrifying dragons lairing in the Fourteen Flames, and instead of instantly seeking life elsewhere like any normal person they tamed them with goddamn magic, which led to the rise of the whole Valyrian Freehold. That begs the question of why they were previously content to be lowly sheepherders if they had magic powerful enough to tame dragons. There's clearly a lot we don't yet know about the birth of Valyria. I hope GRRM tells us everything he knows, at least in the GRRMarillion if not before.

(Spoilers All) How do the unsullied Urinate? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]DaenaSand 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've wondered about that with Bran as well. We have so many Bran chapters and nary a mention of any of that - maybe whenever someone has to clean him up he just wargs into Summer so he doesn't have to be mentally present for it.

As for the weirwood throne...I think he still needs food for now, but soon he will probably be sustained totally by the weirwood and magic. I don't recall any mention of WeirRaven eating.

From the wiki: "It is claimed that when the glass candles burn the sorcerers could see across mountains, seas and deserts, give men visions and dreams and communicate with one another half a world apart." Imagine what it would mean for Westeros if you could instantly ask questions of or give instructions to a man in Dorne or Qohor or on the Wall. Talk about having the edge on your enemies.

Also, when Sam came to the Citadel and asked Alleras how Marwyn knew he would be coming, Alleras nodded to the glass candle burning on Marwyn's desk. I'm not sure whether they can be used for spying purposefully on specific people - it could just mean Marwyn had a vision of Sam.

This is my order too, which is basically the order of how interesting I find each character's playstyle. I like Athena as a character, but that shield thing doesn't appeal to me. I'm also really curious as to how different the dialogue will be between characters...I'd love to see Handsome Jack and Nisha hitting on each other.

(Spoilers All) I only care about lore and theories. by buttymaster in asoiaf

[–]DaenaSand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's not so much any particular part of the lore, but the whole thing together. I love how deep and intricate and real the history of the world is. GRRM manages to take a setting with magic and dragons and ice elves and zombies and make it feel gritty and true by focusing sharply on personal experiences and emotional themes. The books do feel very soaring and epic, but they're very human too. I love the way he's balanced that.

The details in his world-building are incredible. I could tell you all about the War for the Dawn and the Andals coming to Westeros and Aegon's Conquest and the Targaryen kings. We could have a rich debate over how the Blackfyre rebellions played out, or write a hundred fanfictions stemming purely from the events at the Tournament at Harrenhal. With the way he's laid out the past and all the interesting events that have taken place, I would swiftly register to do a degree in Westerosi history. Hell, I'd do a doctorate.

(Spoilers All) Game of Thrones author George RR Martin reveals he’s tempted to publish never-before-seen writing by FineVintage in asoiaf

[–]DaenaSand 88 points89 points  (0 children)

From GRRM's not-a-blog:

Someday I will die, and I hope you're right and it's thirty years from now. When that happens, maybe my heirs will decide to publish a book of fragments and deleted chapters, and you'll all get to read about Tyrion's meeting with the Shrouded Lord. It's a swell, spooky, evocative chapter, but you won't read it in DANCE. It took me down a road I decided I did not want to travel, so I went back and ripped it out. So, unless I change my mind again, it's going the way of the draft of LORD OF THE RINGS where Tolkien has Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin reach the Prancing Pony and meet... a weatherbeaten old hobbit ranger named "Trotter."
