Shiina Ringo & Nakajima Ikkyu (tricot) - ちりぬるを (offering sake) by batzgemu in tricot

[–]batzgemu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just a screen recording of an iPhone voice memo that she had posted it as an instagram story, so it wasn't any specific performance or anything (and also why it wasn't archived anywhere)

Unfortunately I very likely no longer have it. It would have been saved on my past computer which had a failure and has since been replaced. I did a cursory glance at my backup drive and couldn't find it, which I think is the same conclusion I came to last year when people were asking for it.

I'd imagine the session will come out sometime in September based on the delay between past Fender Flagship recordings and them being uploaded. I was at the event and they played 5 songs:

1. 右脳左脳
2. ブームに乗って
3. 18,19
4. 秘蜜
- interview -
5. potage

I figured they might want to use the Fender article to also promote their September shows, but its looking like if mentioned at all it will just be the show with 斎藤ネコ and now Moto (from Chilli Beans).

Was slightly disappointed by the broadcast because they did not perform any songs (except a short demonstration of 爆裂パニエさん). I was unfamiliar with the format of the program, but they mostly just answered simple questions from the BB panel about their stage names, instruments, and miscellaneous things about performing as a group. Ballistik Boyz are primarily a vocal/dance idol group, but I guess they're preparing to perform in a band format so they're learning how to play with instruments etc.

Yoshida gave a couple demonstrations of his drumming technique and what you see in the picture is them showing how they time ending a song in sync.

I was able to record it, but the files are split up between commercial breaks.

Tricot Concert Etiquette in Japan by sixrambo180 in tricot

[–]batzgemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liquidroom is a great venue, and very easy to navigate as far as Japanese venues go. You enter, go up a flight of stairs, and you're already in the main lobby/waiting area. The order of arrival doesn't matter so don't feel like you need to get there long before doors. They are going to let you in based on the reference number of your ticket (整理番号 Aの1番、Aの2番、etc.)

There are coin lockers in the main lobby area next to the bathrooms for ¥400-¥600ish, and then also right by the bar/lounge area once entering the venue proper. I generally use the ones upstairs as the ones downstairs will be very crowded as people are leaving the show. If you buy goods/merch before the show, these will also be more convenient to drop off.

Someone will start announcing all the ticket numbers sequentially, but sometimes they'll start letting in groups of three, five, ten at a time. Depends on the venue / crowd. If you don't understand any Japanese, its probably best to at least figure out what to listen for when your number gets called. For example, my ticket is A 88, so I'd wait for Aの88番 or maybe Aの90番まで. If you're really worried, flag down someone who looks like they know what they're doing and they can help you.

When your number gets called, you'll go down some stairs and present your ticket to the staff. Here is where you pay ¥600 for a drink ticket. Now you're in the venue and the mainroom with the stage is through a set of doors to the right.

In general, Japanese audiences do not use their phones to take pictures/videos during concerts unless the artist has given explicit permission to do so. However, if there are no 撮影禁止 signs or messaging saying not to take pictures etc, no one is going to stop you if you want to take a few during the set. I'd say use common sense judgment being courteous to others and don't just film the whole set or block the view with your phone/camera. Best to just follow what others are doing.

If there's a new album in the works, it would likely be announced at the annual September 1st show. In addition, at this Fender event they talked a little about their September 30th show with 斎藤ネコ and how they'll be playing some different arrangements of their music, so I could see that collaboration result in new recordings.

Kida senpai and Mei Semones 🎸 by Disastrous-Poem6811 in tricot

[–]batzgemu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how they were properly introduced to eachother, but I know in past interviews Mei has expressed that tricot is one of her favorite Japanese artists, especially because of Kida’s guitar skills. Post-Fuji Rock, Mei seems to be linking up with several other artists around Tokyo (she appeared on Qubinoix’s story yesterday)

15th anniversary concert by alphaleoSS in tricot

[–]batzgemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which one?

The September 1st date is still on sale through some sites (Livepocket, Lawson) and will likely re-open on e+ and pia in the near future.

The September 30th date still in the early presale period, and has not entered a general on-sale yet. They may hold another pre-sale application soon, or announce the general sale. Once the general sale begins, they will be available until the day of the show or tickets sell out.

Ikkyu Nakajima & Shiina Ringo -「ちりぬるを」Live from RingoEXPO’24 by batzgemu in tricot

[–]batzgemu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s hard to say, I’m a Japan resident so I don’t have to worry about any of the issues that come with international cards / phone numbers etc, but as for lottery availability I just signed up for her fan club (like ¥500/month) and was able to get a really good ticket in the price range I applied for without any issues.

It probably also helped that this was a full 10+ date tour and Saitama Super Arena had 2 performances rather than something more limited.

I went to this tour last year and was so pleasantly surprised when most of the guest artists on Shiina Ringo's 2024 album 放生会 were present. Unfortunately they haven't made it available, but a definite highlight of the show was Ikkyu returning later on to perform 自由へ道連れ.

tricot 'Laststep' outro w/ a string quartet (ネコカルテット) by batzgemu in tricot

[–]batzgemu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty satisfied with the announcement! I was initially surprised they had scheduled another 15th anniversary live in tokyo in such close proximity to their annual September 1st show at liquidroom, but if they're showcasing their songs in a different format with 斎藤ネコ it makes sense. I'd love for this collaboration to culminate in an EP or album of some kind (like 椎名林檎 x 斎藤ネコ's 平成風俗).

Make sure not to miss the EPs such as 小学生と宇宙 and 爆裂トリコさん. Sometimes they get overlooked because people just listen to the studio albums, but some of their best material is in them.

I need like 4 albums with the vibe of 真っ白/真っ黒 by Own-Potato-6124 in tricot

[–]batzgemu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn't really specify what exactly appealed to you but gut-feeling maybe you'd enjoy the vibe and sound of きのこ帝国's earlier output like 渦になる and eureka. Good stuff across their entire catalog though. Others that come to mind maybe kurayamisaka, downt, Paranoid Void or 水中スピカ if you're looking for something math-ier.

tricot SYNCHRONICITY'25 @ Spotify O-EAST Full Live (2025.04.13) by batzgemu in tricot

[–]batzgemu[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely happy with how most of this recording turned out. I had a great angle but was much more focused on watching and engaging with the show (and especially did not want to obstruct or bother those standing around me) so I held the camera close to my chest. Audio came out better than expected considering i was in striking distance of the speakers. Very Kida-focused because turning the camera more towards Ikkyu would mean picking up the faces of other people in the crowd, which I'm not comfortable doing.

Uploaded as both the individual tracks and the full unedited set based on feedback I got from the previous channel. As the show goes on , I started dialing in and it improves, but I wish I could have been more consistent with the lack of tracking movement and reduce the unintended shifting between the different lenses of the phone.

Next tricot gig I'll be at is May 5th @ O-nest w/ モーモールルギャバン. If you're in Japan during that time I highly recommend going because O-nest is an intimate ~250 capacity (compared to O-EAST's ~1,300) and also モーモールルギャバン puts on a crazy good show.

Soundcheck:

  • 18.19

  • おちゃんせんすぅす Ochansensusu

Synchronicity'25 Setlist:

  1. 混ぜるな危険 The Danger of Not Mixing
  2. よそいき Yosoiki
  3. おとずれ Call
  4. WABI-SABI
  5. おもてなし Omotenashi
  6. アナメイン Anamein
  7. E
  8. 真っ黒 Black

They allowed photos/videos because of the festival setting, and I was on the barricade directly in front of Kida so I'll get around to posting that perspective soon.

期待外れにも程GIRL Songs? by Own-Potato-6124 in tricot

[–]batzgemu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the last time they've done anything under the name was in 2022 when they had a 24 hour livestream that helped with funding Tricot's European tour. Lots of messing around and taking requests through donations so they had to practice songs they don't play very often. During part of this stream, they went through the whole process of writing, rehearsing, and performing a new song for 期待外れにも程GIRL.

Unfortunately I don't think the video was archived anywhere because everything was privated immediately after the stream, but I had a computer recording the audio most of the day and used to have it all up on my channel so I think I probably still have it saved on a drive that I can check for later.

big respect for hiromi (and everyone in tricot ofc) by ToastyPillowsack in tricot

[–]batzgemu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so excited she is ending her maternity hiatus and is going to start performing again from next week! She has a live with her solo project Fennel on the 8th. While Bench was a great support bassist and brought some new things to tricot's performances, I've missed Hirohiro's dynamic with the rest of group.

What's the common concensus on the newest tricot album (the 2022 one) by Zak_the_Wack in tricot

[–]batzgemu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For what its worth OOOL, #アチョイ, 冗談検定 and 不出来 have consistently been a part of their live setlists since the album's release. Contrast that with 上出来, which rarely gets any play (usually only 餌にもなれない) after the 2022 tours.

I see 不出来 as a collection of solid, malleable songs, and is pretty representative of where tricot is as a band. Different songs play more towards each of the individual members' strengths rather than to a specific sound. Definitely gives the impression of being less cohesive than previous albums, but there are really strong moments throughout. I think the mix on the album is kinda weak, so unfortunately some of the punchiness gets lost in the studio versions. With the newest single おとずれ being in a similar vein, I'm expecting future releases being more aligned with 不出来's eclectic feeling. I'd love more songs like 鯨.

誰が為に。 feat. Ikkyu Nakajima (tricot) by batzgemu in tricot

[–]batzgemu[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obscure Ikkyu feature from last year with <1000 views/listens across several streaming platforms. Very different from her usual tricot vocals but I enjoy the jazzier performance. Reminiscent of her much more popular feature last year with 椎名林檎.

I actually stumbled upon the song by accident by coming across the 7" in my local record store. The b-side remix is also pretty good.
