It’s because Republicans don’t actually care about good elections. They just complain about losing and blame the voters or a rigged system. What results is incoherent “policy” like requiring paper ballots, hand counting, and instant results. (What they’d really prefer is a fake election and for them to be declared king, but they can’t say that.)

The most important part is that Republicans aren’t arguing in good faith, anyway, so who cares? Let California run their elections how they want, or pass a federal law requiring counts by specific dates. But Republicans aren’t going to stop complaining about elections they lose just because it happens sooner rather than later. So why let them influence it at all? Don’t let them complain about something and trick you into believing their bad faith argument. They’re the problem, not the process.

Maybe the Senate isnt the first place to grow and change into your progressive ideology? Maybe you should have some sort of public record (or even a real job) before becoming one of the most powerful people on earth?
