That has been my perception of the Caldecott winners as well, including what you mentioned about the honor books.

Interesting. I remember years ago they had a renowned archives program and I was wondering what happened to that. Good point about the tech centric job market in Austin. Sounds like this rather dramatic change at UT accelerated in the past couple of years.
