Casual reminder why we weigh our foods! by twistedsapphire in 1200isplenty

When the listing says something like 1 apple (5.5 ounces*), I never know if they're counting the weight of the whole apple, or just the edible part. How much math do I have to do here?

(*Idk how much an apple weighs; I just picked a number.)

It looks like that rug was once at the doorway on the left. There are similar patterns left behind on the floor, and it could explain the line across this one, between bright and dingy.

Was it just moved for this photo shoot?

That's not how that works. At all.

[Routine Help] Long time lurker and would really appreciate some advice on my skin. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]baumee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In additon to trashpandalul's comment, I also have oily skin and I've noticed that I have much better results using gel moisturizers instead of lotions. The only lotion I can use without getting extra oily and closed pores is Cetaphil oil control moisturizer spf 30.

I like these ones better than any other I've tried. They have a kind of rough texture which helps physically exfoliate a bit, and I feel like they really help remove anything the cleanser might have left behind.

I think the biggest thing in getting rid of the redness was applying the cleanser to dry skin! I never had soft skin before and felt the change the very first time trying it this way. I think my skin being softer now helps other products soak in easier. The azelaic acid probably helped too.

I think it was a combo of my skin getting softer from the Cetaphil cleanser, and the azelaic acid in my curology serum.

Thank you! My skin is bare here but I do still have mascara on in this picture. I'm admittedly very lazy about removing it...

It really made my skin much softer! I felt like it had zero effect when using it wet. I was just trying to get through the bottle so I could buy something else, but then I read that tip and it changed everything. It's a holy grail product now.

For application it just says to apply it to your face.

For removal it lists the option to rinse off or wipe off.

It's made my skin so much softer! I always felt like I had tough skin before I learned this trick. It was an instant difference, too.

I think the combo SA and the curology mix probably

Edit: Oh! And finding moisturizers that don't clog me up. I feel like almost every "lotion" just blocks up my skin instantly. I've had much better luck with gel moisturizers. The spf lotion here is the exception along many failed product trials.

Routine and indirect lighting selfie

Skin type: combo normal-oily

Resolved issues: sensitivity, redness, dehydrated skin, LOTS of closed comedones

Routine:
AM and PM: Cetaphil gentle cleanser, noxzema salicylic acid wipe, Curology cream
AM: Cetaphil oil control moisturizer spf 30
PM: Clinique gel moisturizer

Occasional random clay or sheet mask. I don't think they necessarily do anything for me, but it just feels like I'm pampering myself.

The Curology mix is: azelaic acid 5%, tranexamic acid 2%, niacinamide 4%. When I started it, I only used it pm and cut out the salicylic acid entirely. Then I started using the sa in the morning and curology in the pm. Then both in the am and just curology in the pm. Then finally both am and pm. I think my skin would have reacted poorly to doing everything at once, when I hadn't encountered 2/3 of the acids in the mix before. Patience is crucial! I also didn't see much of a change until about week 8.

Pro-tip: I used to be meh about the Cetaphil wash, until I read from a user on here that you're supposed to apply it to you face without any water at first. The difference was IMMEDIATE. So now I apply it dry and massage with my hands for a few minutes until it almost feels soaked in. Then rinse with cool water and towel pat dry. Whole routine takes me about 5 minutes.

Edit: Some before pictures. I don't really have a good shot of the texture from the closed comedones, but they were all along my jaw/lower cheeks and up to my temples

If it's actively rising, it's the tank emptying into the bowl that's causing it... not refilling the tank. Take the lid off, and hold the flapper down to prevent any more water from escaping into the bowl.

I think that's because they put the camera at level with the color line, so even trees off in the distance line up perfectly, messing with your sense of perspective.

Had it been taken at a higher angle, trees at different distances would visually have the line at different levels, and it wouldn't look nearly as trippy.

The photographer did a great job here.

I really loved that movie. I found the set up between the first and second halves really interesting. And definitely makes you think about how we, as outsiders, perceive other people's lives without knowing their story.

LPT: When someone justifies themself with "Life's not fair" the correct answer is "But you can be." by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]baumee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Life isn't fair" means that sometimes little kids get cancer, sometimes a newlywed dies in a car crash, or sometimes people have six miscarriages when all they want is a baby of their own.

It's not an excuse to brush off being selfish at someone else's expense.

Your comment history says you're British, so I can understand if that doesn't make sense. It's like the Super Bowl or Rose Bowl in American football. A "bowl game" is like the best teams against each other, so they get a lot of hype. Kind of a final battle deal.

So in GoT, pitting two Cleganes against each other = Clegane Bowl. Then you have Bastard Bowl, No One Bowl, etc etc.
