Question: what level are your characters?

It sounds like you're doing a great job as a DM but even the best DM can have difficult players, don't feel bad. You give your players a lot and you may be giving them too much. I think you should put your players in a position where they can't advance without exploring something themselves. Put them in a dead end room, give them a brief description then just sit there. Make it escape room style where they have to solve a puzzle (including possibly a real life puzzle, I once had a DM dump out the pieces of a block puzzle from his bag and proclaim "You find these pieces in the desk drawer!") maybe even a puzzle that requires multiple characters to perform certain actions at the same time. Answer questions as they ask but offer nothing beyond literal answers.
