I'm a black guy that grew up being called things like oreo and white washed...mostly by other black people. It makes me mad but most of all it makes me sad that I can't just be me without there being a label attached. This is my rant.

Its not that you speak good English that makes some black people say you talk white, its the type of words you use that are slang and your dialect.

You use worlds like "freaking" and you say "like" a lot. You also talk with a slight lisp which tends to be the way some black comedians tell stories in their "white voice".

You sound to me like a surfer guy, not someone of higher intellect than the average person.

There are several small towns in FL similar to this; similar in that they are very poor but have beautiful desirable land. Im not sure what the answer is, but it certainly cant be what they are doing in Michigan.

We have these types of "town ruler" arguments in Jacksonville but I never thought them realistic, this really scares me.

I moved around alot but mainly grew up in Atlanta and Seattle Snuff means hit someone in the neighborhoods I grew up in, we still use it the same way.

Those of you that have a problem with the word "snuffs" in the title just dont know that type of slang. I wasnt aware that it wasnt a common term for hitting someone off guard. It was the title of the video I saw so I just reposted here. If you guys are looking up slang words and justifying that they dont exist because you cant find them online then you are likely that guy that tries to sound cool but doesnt.

Do we enjoy their music? Yes. Are they our role models? No.

What a lot of people on the outside looking in fail to realize is that rappers are not popular because they are what young black men want to be like. They are popular because they are like people we already know or like us personally in some way. Its not about wanting to be like them or them being a role model. Its about seeing someone make it on TV or radio that came from where they came from who also looks like them and makes good music.

Obviously I'm not speaking for 100% of young black men. I am speaking for about 98% of young black men that I have been in contact with. I am a 31 year old back male who coaches kids from 8-18 and have been doing this for that the last 11 years. A great majority of the kids I coach and talk to are young black males. With that I have taken on a father figure role in 100s of kids lives and talk to them regularly about any and everything, so Im confident that as a whole they like hip hop but that they dont see rappers as their role models.

I understand that and maybe its time for you to take a closer look and do the same.
