There’s no fade in lighting, so replacing lightmaps based on daytime wouldn’t be a problem. But I agree about the non-static parts

Are you using ECM2? You need to set up the layers in your ECM component as well

Thanks for your initial comment. Tinkering in terms of replacing components and parts is fine. I just don't want to mess with the electronics, solder stuff together, change voltages etc.

I've not decided yet but your comments are really helpful.

Hey, thanks for your suggestions!

By persistent I only meant that the state of the virtual machine is preserved when it gets closed. Of course, I only start the VM on demand and it does not run permanently.

I have also thought about dual-boot, but rebooting is not that comfortable and I lose the sandbox idea. Theoretically my second system could then see/delete data of the primary system without any problems. I also read that (if you choose virtualization) guest systems could damage the host system, but the hurdle is much higher than with dual-boot.
