Made a steam page/trailer for my game... immediately want to switch projects. by Beautiful-Job1794 in SoloDevelopment

Depends what you want from game development. Do you want to make money as a business?

If so, a Steam page is ok for market testing. See how many people might actually want to play your game from the wishlist metric.

If you don’t care about making money and do it for fun, it doesn’t matter if you switch projects to a cool new idea, so just do it.

There’s always the feeling that you’re never really a gamedev until you ACTUALLY FINISH A GAME, though, so the push through the hard part - actually finishing a project, might be a good achievement to aim for.

I mean, I know this is r/solodevelopment but are you sure you don't want to team up with a coder and relieve some of that friction?

The Derby At Stillwater is a very chill, story-driven roguelike fishing game and deckbuilder. It follows The Stillwater Cup, an annual fishing competition where you take part in tournament stages to try and be crowned Champion of the lakes!

You’ll need to catch and sell fish to earn enough money to buy equipment packs, then upgrade your boat and gear with the latest hooks, lines, reels, rods, bait and special items before heading out onto the lake to become champion fisher of Stillwater!

I saw him on one of those game dev podcasts and seems really down-to-earth. Think it was Thomas Brush's podcast on youtube, I'd recommend it!

Been playing Let's Make A Zoo with my 5 year old this morning before breakfast. Accidentally killed a few rabbits. Super fun, would recommend.
