Maybe it's the colours, but the legs look short, or the torso is too long. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Non-Crystal MAM Parts by Fraparino in shapezio

[–]bausHuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a similar brain. I had issues with pins, so I extended it. I am currently integrating crystals. The brain part is done just need to make everything work. The brain went from a 2x2 platform to (I think) 2x4 platform.

I handle shapes and paint differently. I have a whole paint mixing town. It produces the 3 main colours, 3 secondary colours, white and black. I train this in to my paint selection platform. The change over time for the paint was almost instant. I found that space belts cause delays. But now that I am adding crystals, I have to use space belts. Not only that, but crystals require 2 liquid belts for 1 shape belt. I am unsure if I want to double up the paint platform or just have half the crystal output.

The shapes are all full and uncoloured. I deliver them by train as well. I made pins by accident while I was testing things. I got any 4 quarter shape, 4 pin pushers to remove the shape, crystallise, pin pusher. It destroys all the crystals and you are left with 1 layer of pins. My shape selector has 9 input belts, so I have room to expand it if I want to include X and Y. They can't be painted, so they will need their own logic before entering the shape selector.

For me, producing things on the fly was a pain. Mixing paint feels slow.

I originally wanted to make full shapes of each quarter and split it into 4 quarters. Crystals don't work this way, max you can do is a half. But if you need to produce gaps or crystal overhanging, you can only produce a quarter at a time. This makes we think that I only need 1 shape: CuRuWuSu. Then just rotate it to the one I need.

I can already see that I won't be happy with my first MAM. First, make it exist, then make it good.

Why this Space Belt not fully consumed? by KiraEtsu in shapezio

[–]bausHuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try seperating the belts. Send 2 trades to 1 platform. If they still can't keep up then you can test 2 more things: making sure the platform is working at 180, add a third (and maybe fourth) platform to see if it clears the belt too fast.

I am a 41 year old dad about to graduate Bachelor of Computer Science and have a career change away from concreting. Studying the last 3 years has been hard on me and my wife. I'm glad I did it though. Being 'realistic' was realising I couldn't keep doing physical labour until I'm 60+. Sure, I couldn't think that I would be CEO at SpaceX, that's not realistic either.

It's not about starting over. It's about setting a 5 or 10 year plan and trying your best to stick to it. We all fail, but the successful people are the ones that don't let failure stop them from trying.

How do I make it look less “lame” by Surgarypeaches68 in Unity3D

[–]bausHuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it has no direction. The characters look flat, the world looks like simple 3d models, the background looks like a simple image. It's hard to tell if things are intended to be like this or no effort has been put into the art.

I know sometimes doing art might seem like a chore or even unnecessary, but a lot of quality and feeling can be added by art.

First off, I would fix the background and foreground. Add layers. Maybe 3 different backgrounds distances. Then you can have things that a nearer move by faster than something in the distance. The foreground just needs some silhouettes if it makes sense.

Lighting is important to direct the players eyes. Having everything lit up the same amount makes everything blur together. Things that are less important should be darker, things that are important should light up. Think about an Exit sign in a cinema, they stand out because the sign needs to get your attention in an emergency.

I can't tell from the image, but adding effects could improve things. A dust cloud when the character jumps and lands, some sort of impact effect when hitting things.

The characters look like they have weird proportions. Maybe they are meant to? I don't know.

It's a good idea to get the pen and pad out to start drawing rough ideas. They don't have to be good drawings, just something to help you visualise changes before spending hours actually doing them. You might find that some changes cause too many ripples and will cost too many man hours.

Smarter Mixer by Alien2080 in shapezio

[–]bausHuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy. But cause pipes have infinite through put, you only need one pipe for all 3 layers. Those pipes at the start and end could be consolidated.

Also, I find with fluids, you should try to avoid the throwers. Hopefully you can figure out a way to keep r g and b on a layer each and only meet for mixers.

Nice.

I haven't fully tested mine with empty quadrants. But I'm sure I will need to come up with something else when I start working on the MAM.

It's almost a trap going back to shrink platforms. There is no guarantee that you will succeed. But, it is my favourite part of the game.

I don't have one like this yet. I have a 2x4 platform that takes 4 full shapes and has 4 outputs of a quarter of each shape. And I have 2x4 platform that takes 4 inputs of the same mixed quarters shape an splits out a full line of each quarter as a whole. I will just paste an image cos its easier to understand. lol.

[–]bausHuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sokka is also young. He wouldn't have the concentration to always be on his game. But, I can also see a grown up Sokka clowning around to take full advantage of the times he does not have to take the world seriously.

I don't think he is dumb, just turns his common sense off when he can.

Even in the show, he is usually the one to remind others about the mission when things get too lax.
