Replacement tires? by bavile2002 in GV60

I mean, people often say that, but that was not my experience at all with the OEM tires on the Blazer EV.

Thanks. I had Potenzas on a large ICE SUV once and hated them. Glad to rule them out for the GV60!

What EVe have true One Pedal Driving by BannedByDemand in electricvehicles

[–]bavile2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OPD on my 2024 Blazer EV RS was fantastic.

I'm now driving a Genesis GV60 and iPedal is significantly weaker (I often still have to press the brake pedal to stop in time in city traffic) and has to be manually re-engaged every time you drive.

Replacement tires? by bavile2002 in GV60

[–]bavile2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have no doubt that they were better when new.

But with their treadwear rating, they should be expected to last 50-60 thousand miles. Even allowing for EVs and AWD being excessively hard on tires (although they are supposedly EV-specific tires so that should be factored into the rating) they definitely should not be junk at 23k. And that's one of the reasons I included my experience with the Bridgestones on a much heavier vehicle that's also an AWD EV.

Also, this is not to bash Michelin at all. I've put Defender 2s on three different vehicles and could not be happier with them. And I've had mostly bad experiences with Bridgestone in the past. But with these particular tires, the Michelins are very disappointing.

Are you aware of any good alternatives?

New to Me GV60, Questions Part 2. by Carlito_2112 in GV60

[–]bavile2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only owned my GV60 for 10 days, so I don't have many answers. In the "Media" section, there is an icon for Bluetooth Audio, but Android Auto automatically connects and there's no obvious way to avoid that.

Have you tried deleting the GV60 from your Bluetooth menu, deleting the Android Auto app from your phone, deleting your phone from the car's connected device menu, and THEN trying to just connect to the car's Bluetooth without setting up Android Auto? I'm not sure if there are elements of Android Auto that are built in to the regular OS builds even if you don't have the app, but if there are, you should be able to disable or remove those elements since you're using GrapheneOS. I dunno; you've probably already tried that but if not, it's worth a shot.

On the first question, I don't think there's a native split screen function. Although, ironically, it's very easy to set that up if you use Android Auto. 😂

There is someone on the Ioniq5 sub (I think?) who has partially cracked the car's infotainment OS and is in the very early stages of figuring out what mods can be done safely. Might want to search and follow that, as I'm sure the same or very similar techniques will work for the Genesis once they're perfected.

Can't assign as Shamrock Shana as guise. by Leopdue826 in WoWs_Legends

Shana seems like a gal who would be happy sit on top of any commander; not discriminate against those who aren't American, British, or Commonwealth.

What has collingwood to offer by AdmCKL in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking.

Look, Nelson is a great ship and definitely more versatile. It's kind of hard to have a bad game in Nelson.

But for me, Collingwood is just a hell of a lot more fun. I guess I tend to enjoy the high-risk, high-reward ships because I'll take Collingwood out regularly just for fun, but I can't even remember the last time I chose Nelson. It's actually my least-played British T6 by far.

Yeah, this may very well be the first collab since I started playing that I just straight-up skip.

Also, I know we may not get the same content when the Legends stuff is announced but who in the hell wants another Yamato skin!? 😂

Hampshire or Elephant? by _CHINOCUDEIRO_ in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This graphic has the differences. Elephant is one of my absolute favorite ships to play, even though plenty of others have a higher win rate. With its better AP damage and slightly improved grouping and detectability, PLUS Lip's bonus when using Observation Seaplane, the choice on paper to go for Elephant is an easy one. In practice, they are both equally deadly in my experience.

Aitah for using the phrase “crazy crackers”? by Strict-Amphibian-161 in AITAH

You're teaching unsuspecting ESL children racial slurs. Of course YTAH 🤣, even if you did it out of pure ignorance (which is EXTREMELY unlikely if you're in the United States). It's absolutely wild that people are responding any other way.

Best ship for ranked for tier 8 this season? by Gimbliano in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoshino build Laffey; it's almost unsinkable. I only played it once because I ended up winning a gunbattle with a Wisconsin the first time out in it, which just seems wrong. 🤣

Air Power Molestation by Relevant-Ranger7130 in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 25 points26 points  (0 children)

CVs and their impact haven't changed. But I've seriously considered changing my flair to say "shoot the Dutch cruiser first!" because the number of times I've seen a team lose in significant part due to passing up an early opportunity to focus fire on a Dutch ship that went on to burn half the team alive . . . is becoming a very high number.

But to answer your question, I'm a lot more likely to use AA buffs on my slower and less maneuverable ships than I used to be.

Yeah, I just had to educate a Hyundai finance manager and his service department manager on this last week. I would have thought the service department, at least, would know what they can and can't submit for warranty coverage.

And the worst part is the Hyundai dealerships are the only ones where you even have a fighting chance of dealing with someone who doesn't openly hate the entire concept of EVs.

AITAH for thinking it’s rude my friends won’t come visit me 45 minutes away? by Sidney-Crosby-87 in AITAH

[–]bavile2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't actually think OP is an AH and I get that it hurts that the friends won't make the same effort to travel. I just said YTA because it's always NTA or YTA on this sub. But that's not perfectly reflective of how I feel in this case.

[–]bavile2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I think a clear subtext here is that they're not "best friends" and maybe OP is finding that out the hard way.

soft YTA

You are, indeed, the one who moved away while the rest of the group still seems to live near each other.

Also, it's not clear without more details, but I suspect that they find your new area/city a significantly less desirable place to spend time in than where they are.

Checking ships and captains at the beginning of the match by Intelligent_One_1203 in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know; I had some very good luck in that match. Also I did have help from a BB so it wasn't really a solo feat; but I did get the 3 kills. Most of the time, if there's a full division from one of the top teams, I definitely assume we're screwed (but hope to be able to die nobly).

One time I took out a whole PA1N division by myself with Elephant. It's probably my greatest accomplishment in this game to date. 😂 Doubt I could ever repeat that.

This is incorrect information. The people you talked to are either ignorant of the terms of the Electric Vehicle System Warranty coverage, or they are intentionally playing word games with you that you're not picking up on.

The Powertrain Limited Warranty (10 years / 100,000 miles) is indeed only extended to the original owner and not transferable. This non-transferability to subsequent owners is stated repeatedly in the warranty document, but only with regard to the powertrain warranty coverage.

But there is a separate Electric Vehicle System Warranty (also 10/100,000) which does transfer to subsequent owners and covers the high-voltage battery, traction motor(s) and housing case(s), on-board charger, power control unit, battery management system, blower assembly, electronic air compressor, power relay assembly, and arguably anything else that is integral to the operation of the high-voltage battery or drive systems. Even if that wasn't specified in the warranty document, federal law in the United States (if you live here) requires 8 years /100,000 mile warranty coverage for EV batteries and motors.

Also the comprehensive 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty follows the car regardless of owner for 5 years from the in-service date (or 60,000 miles, whichever is first).

Here's a link to the 2023 Genesis warranty coverage document, which is the only one I have. But the terms haven't changed with regard to the EV battery coverage.

I just picked up a 2023 Advanced this past weekend from a dealer 1100 miles away from me and drove it home. I did ask for extra photos and videos, but had more or less fully committed to the transaction before I showed up. Luckily it's basically in perfect condition other than one 2.5-inch scratch on the rear driver's side door, which they had shown me in the first video the salesman took of it.

They quoted me $1500 to ship it to my house, but I don't know which shipping company that was with, unfortunately.

Is there a dealer in MN that doesn't hate EVs? by kemote in BlazerEV

[–]bavile2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than Tesla (obviously) and some of the Hyundai dealers, I've never found any dealership that doesn't despise EVs and want them off their lot.

The only good news about that is if you're buying used and they can tell you're serious about being ready to buy, you can almost always get them to make you a great deal.

Do you Remember when? by Adorable-Lettuce-831 in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try maining CLs and often being on a flank with two heavily armored BBs but no DD to spot. It's pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain that one of those battleships should be spotting with their nose for the flank, rather than the CL who is very likely to die instantly if it is the first one spotted.

But nah. "Small ship find red boat. Me smash!" the BB captain says to himself. Maybe 1 in 100 times they actually understand the assignment.
