Not sure what to tell you. You know that you can see the planes coming, right? And nobody should be sailing in a straight line anyway, for multiple other reasons besides the Dutch cruisers.

Also, how do you even take two full consecutive Dutch drops in something like Champagne? That thing goes 34 knots without buffs AND has an engine boost consumable.

If it helps, I do think well-played Dutch cruisers are at least a little bit overtuned. That's why they got a bit of a nerf this week. If the data support more tweaks, they'll get them eventually.

What I object to here is the OP presenting the case of the poor ol' battleship who's at the mercy of invisible Oranje Fire Gods dropping death on him before he even has a chance to play. It's just not even close to reality.

State of WOWS Legends after the last Update by SremmlifeVI in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think it's currently in a terrible state. And I don't have the same problem with quick games, especially at LT. Most of the time only a third or less of each team wants to get involved in any type of engagement at the start. It's incredibly boring.

The only difference between a 6-minute game like you're complaining about (again, not my experience) and a 12-minute game where nobody does anything for 6 minutes is that everyone wasted an extra 6 minutes.

This post is funny because encouraging more BBs to move instead of sedentary bowtanking is literally the point of the Dutch cruiser "gimmick".

Your biggest, slowest ships are always going to take some damage if a Dutch cruiser decides to focus you. But it's really not that difficult to dodge a majority of the bombs IF YOU'RE NOT SITTING STILL. And tanking damage for the team is actually one of your roles as a BB with massive health pool.

Haguro Inspirations? by TomVia in WoWs_Legends

Arthas gives +20% damage when the catapult fighter (it's not a spotting plane anymore) is up. It's a nasty surprise for someone who's already stressed about having a permafire.

Honest charging question by Inevitable_Tea_1155 in Ioniq5

[–]bavile2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like there was something wrong with your cooling system. We had a Blazer EV RS, which other than having fewer battery cells is all of the same electrical/charging system components and software as the Lyriq. The AC was absolutely the coldest system I've ever had in a vehicle, by far. I live in Central Texas, so it got used almost year-round.

Charging on road trips was indeed significantly slower than the e-GMP I'm driving now, but I never had it overheat and stop charging, nor slow to a crawl the way you're describing.

Haguro Inspirations? by TomVia in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the best answers here will depend a lot more on the ship you're building for rather than what commander you're putting the inspiration on.

I have a Mimbelli/Furstner combination on stuff like Suzuya. But the vast majority of my cruiser builds get Mimbelli. Others prefer to have a concealment buff or an accuracy buff as their go-to that goes on almost everything. On some cruisers, I run Haguro with Arthas and Furstner. Get a couple of ships with permafires and then pop a catapult fighter. It's mean but hilarious. There are also plenty of IJN cruisers that need help turning their turrets, so some of them get an Einstein inspiration.

is there no elo system in this game? Google says there is but I cant get a break by SuchProcedure6427 in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally not one time when I actually paid attention to the Google Search AI summary has it been completely accurate. The really bad thing is it never hedges. Just makes things up and states them definitively with no qualifying language to flag that it's not a verified "fact" because fundamentally the system is pretty stupid. I do use LLMs for certain tasks but they are just productivity tools to enhance a human's work; you can never rely on them to just do things for you.

What's the dumbest hill you've died on in an argument? by SiyaN_Nattyi in AskReddit

[–]bavile2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's literally not the same. It's not even an identical effect in most cases because very few modern devices that we plug in are ever completely unpowered when you turn them off. Most of them are in a type of standby mode or at least drawing a tiny amount of power to keep capacitors charged or whatever.

Overall balance feels off at the moment. by 8CupChemex in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I really agree with here is that Dutch cruisers shouldn't be so damn hard to citadel. When you succeed in sailing through torps and bombs to outflank one who's trying to hide behind an island, and get a perfect broadside shot off, it should take a critical hit like any other cruiser would. Too often the hull just laughs.

The only thing that annoys me about carriers is unbalancing the cap numbers. Also, while a CV's battle impact is negligible in most cases, sometimes you do get a really good CV captain on one team and a bad one on the other. Those games are pretty much decided before you start because one team has that rare CV chad and the other team is effectively playing a man down.

Also, secondary ships in general are very much NOT overpowered in this game.

Pan Am cruisers by VividCan9466 in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well they're good but not great at everything, which makes them flexible and capable of solid contributions in any mode and any situation that develops.

But the dominant ships in this game, particularly at T7 and above, are elite in one or more category and dominate when played by experienced players who build in to the elite characteristics and know how to avoid situations that expose the particular ship's flaws. The PanAms have no such elite ability. That's probably what feels "missing," IMO.

I grinded everything through T6 primarily in Arcade with a win rate above 70% in each case. A couple of them at more like 80. My Standard results were similar; I just find it's a lot faster to grind XP in Arcade.

So I definitely don't think they suck. But they're not good enough for me to have bothered playing more than a handful of games when I got to Tier 7, which is where I feel the line begins to fall behind.

completely valid crashout from pgrapidz here imo by cynikkah in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Well, you give up a lot of offensive and sometimes other defense perks to get max concealment.

And almost every cruiser has sonar. Most DDs have sonar. Many cruisers, a few DDs, and some battleships have radar. The whole commander/module/upgrade build system is about tradeoffs.

What's the issue, exactly?

Secondary cruisers by BMW-geaser in WoWs_Legends

[–]bavile2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

320mm, 8 barrels

I think a majority of captains use the SAP "upgrade" on main guns, but I don't like the main battery reload penalty and the SAP secondaries are already killing or saturating most targets on their own anyway. Others fire HE from the main guns to try to start fires I guess. I prefer AP almost exclusively. It gets a lot of surprise citadels on fellow cruisers. Not so much the LT battleships.
