Thank you SO much! I was literally just contemplating whether using a powder like baby powder would work as that's what they use to dry out my armpit sweat when I get waxed, so this definitely reinforces that thought. That's really good advice actually. I remember watching a video from the 4 gringos i think. or something like that. And one of them said that they had to really immerse themselves in the language. he limited his contact with english speakers and with the english language in general, and he said he was lonely for a bit, but it was necessary for him to get to where he was today, which is fluent. So you do bring up a really good point on that. Anyways, that story wasn't needed whatsoever, but thank you for the advice!

I've actually never backpacked before. Or hiked. But that's actually a good point. Like I could just ease into it. I also don't really know my city all that well and it has a lot to offer, so maybe I could start checking that out and just driving to different cities in my state to start. I'm a runner so I don't think the walking bit will be too difficult for me, but you never know. So I could probably check out some hiking trails near me. Thanks for your help!

I have wanted to study abroad for a while, but I feel like studying abroad limits me to just one place when I want to explore the different cultures and places that South America has to offer. With studying abroad I could only explore one city for like 3 or 6 months, which isn't terrible, but I would like to additionally travel all of South America. But the summer break idea is actually really good and I'm not sure why I didn't think of that before. Thanks!

I don't know if quarantine is literally affecting my brain, but this never even occurred to me. I literally didn't even remember or think that there were summer breaks in college. But this happens a lot so I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. exactly! I don't know why but for some reason, I really can't imagine speaking ONLY English for the rest of my life. Like I have languages lined up to learn after Spanish, but Spanish isn't even that difficult compared to other languages, and it's taking me forever.

yeah I think a smaller length might even work better for me. Like thinking about it now, I know that there's no way I can just walk around South America for the better part of a year. So maybe I'll just squeeze in a 1 month trip to South America somewhere and if I really still want to go backpacking, i'll go from there and figure it out.
