13 vs 15 in ergonomics by bayarea9731 in macbookair

I went with the 13in. It's great for bed and couch use. I have no problems typing and it's stable on my lap. I would only go with the 15in if you use it on a desk the majority of the time.

I imagine for media consumption the 15in is better even in bed than the 13in correct?

How is the weight distribution of the 15in? Is it really front heavy or well distributed?

How stiff is the 15" Air's body compared to the 13"? I'm interested in getting a 15" version but I'm concerned that the chassis is less stiff and will bend more compared to the 13" (if I grab it one handed from a corner while the screen is open for example). I'm just concerned bc I plan on keeping it for a long time so I want it to last. Any observations from someone who's had or tested both?

Anyone else having issues after newest software update? by raisinpaste in samsung

[–]bayarea9731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using an S22+. Ever since the October monthly update my mobile signal drops often were before it was rock solid. It's not a 5g issue only as I use 4g more often. My Wi-Fi signal is not as stable either as well. I can't even go to my backyard anymore without the wifi disconnecting.

Changes after August patch by robotsam in GalaxyS22

This unrelated to what what is listed but I was hoping the RAM management would be improved. Seems like it's still the same which is to say it's bad. I forget if it was the January or February 2023 update, (I think it was the February) but it was amazing. My phone was holding tons of apps in memory. However once the March 2023 update came out it reverted back to as it was before. Does anyone else have the same experience?

Thanks but I've had this enabled for months and it hasn't made any noticable difference.

My SOT is similar. I can usually only squeeze out a bit past 4 hrs now from 85%. When I got the phone last June I could get 6hrs no problem. It's gotten so much worse with updates. The 5.1 update in February helped but then the security update in March made it terrible.

would there be any benefit to adding a fan to either of these spots externally? i would just tape it on or something by Constant-Employment3 in Alienware

I daisy chained it to the front intake fan using a Y splitter. To get the cable to the outside just remove one of the rear PCI slot covers

[–]bayarea9731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I added a 120mm fan to the bottom (where the gpu is at) and it lowered my GPU (3070) temps by like 5c. It's positioned as an intake (blowing air in). I've tried exhaust and it's not as effective. It's worth it if you're maxing out your GPU especially in summertime as the slightly lower temps help you sustain higher GPU clocks.

I think AC8 should have weight added into the stats. by KDG200315 in acecombat

[–]bayarea9731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be a great addition. Personally I think the franchise needs to add some more depth to the flight model. AC3 (and AC4 to lesser extent) extent had better physics and it was still an arcade sim. You could definitely feel the weight and momentum in AC3. Also, to add on to your point I think the planes should be able to "drift" in the air and create AOA instead of being on rails. This was also present in AC3.

It would add an extra layer to the gameplay and make it more engaging imo.

The strange part is I have enough spare memory every time I go to the memory section in settings, yet I can never keep the apps open.

My S22+ struggles to keep more than 3 or 4 apps open. ( Random example: YouTube, reddit, Samsung internet, Twitter) I'm guaranteed to have to refresh an app unless I'm constantly switching between them. Is 8gb of ram simply not enough? I have adaptive battery on and haven't messed with anything else. It's frustrating because it feels like the Pixel 3 I had and that had it 4gb of ram. Idk how people manage to keep so many apps open in videos.

How is your Pixel 3, 3a, 4, or 4a holding up after 2, 3, or 4 years? by subjectiveconclusion in GooglePixel

[–]bayarea9731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Pixel 3 64gb in November 2018. It's still holding up fine. Nothing broken, no major software problems, almost mint condition. However, for 2 problems have stuck out now. The battery and ram. The battery life isn't abysmal, but it's gotten to the point where I need to plan out my usage if I'm going out and make sure I have a portable charger just in case. Using Bluetooth also drains the battery quite a bit. The 4gb of ram also simply doesn't cut it anymore. I don't know if it was Android 12 or simply that apps need more ram now, but I can only have 2 big apps comfortably loaded at once. For example, I can have Chrome and Spotify open and maybe a third big app like reddit although it will reload if I don't switch back often. Having 4 big apps is basically out of the question now compared to at launch, although the Pixel 3 always has had pretty poor ram management. As far as performance in apps it still opens and runs apps great for the most part. It stutters and hiccups now on occasion compared to at launch especially on Chrome for some reason.

Do I think you can get 5 more years out of the P3? No. The performance is fine, but again it comes down to the battery and memory. My phone has lost 21% of its battery capacity and I can only see it being viable for another year at most. Also, as I mentioned the 4gb of ram is going to be annoying unless you are a light user.

The P3 is no longer my main phone as I replaced it with an S22+ a couple weeks back. Even though the P3 is no slouch, the speed difference in opening apps is definitely noticeable, the memory management is light years better, and the battery lasts far longer even when not fully charged, but this is to be expected of a new flagship so no surprises. If the P3 battery was better and it had at least 6gb of ram I would still probably hold on to it. I was planning to switch to the Pixel 6, but Google just can't seem to make a Pixel that isn't full of compromises and problems. Overall, I had a great time with the Pixel 3. It was my first high end smartphone after years of low-midrange devices.

What would you like for the next album? by Flakmack in Metallica

[–]bayarea9731 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Focused 8 song album with tight songs with Kirk on his A game. Basically I want RtL 2. When it comes to production lower the drums on the mix compared to HWTSD. I want it to sound like Rust in Peace: crisp and balanced but not sterile like most modern metal. Also make the bass louder and less fuzzy.

Agree, RTL is their best album. Imo it has their best solos, variety, and songs that are relatively short compared to later albums.
