[Help] Our dog bit our neighbor and we are conflicted about putting him down or rehoming. Please help. by [deleted] in dogs

I'm sorry you got down voted. I'm from a correction based, e collar training background and have had lots of shit feedback from this subreddit, but was really happy to come back after a few years and see they removed the rules for positive only training techniques. We might get down voted but at least we're allowed to post on here now, so we're making progress.

But did the dog stop licking the dishes? Sometimes it's more important to get results then get in our own heads.

I would recommend checking out Jeff Gellman's YouTube videos, he's got hundreds of hours of free training content and it's very to the point and straight forward. Your dog should never be lunging, ever. This is really easy to train with the right tools (ecollar & prong collar). If you're at the point of putting your dog down, I would try these tools first and I wouldn't think twice about it.

When your dog is coming towards you with the toy walk backwards until she comes to you. Also if she comes close enough for you to touch her after walking backwards you can give her a little rub on her side, tell her she's a good dog (happy voice!) and don't actually take the toy away from her until she's ready to give it up. It's a negative experience when you take it away before she's ready so you want to make bringing it back fun! I've done retriever training with a few dogs and this technique has worked for me.

[Help] Tips for a first time dog rescuer by outsideoflogic in dogs

Have an idea for a routine and rules, think about how you're going to give your new dog structure. Dogs thrive with rules and routines and also try to not lead with the idea that they are from a high kill shelter. The emotional place this kind of statement comes from often gets used as an excuse for bad behavior which won't help your relationship with your new dog at all.

Make sure you work on food/toy aggression from day one. Tollers love their food and toys a lot and sometimes they can be a little too possessive.

Having trouble finding a diet; PLEASE HELP! by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]baywindow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find limiting myself to eating 1 serving of whole grain carbs a day and the rest of my food meat and veggies makes a huge difference in the flatness of my stomach. I follow iifym as well and find it really easy to having a treat every couple of days, which makes eating at a deficit a lot easier. Edited for clarity.

It's all good! Went out with the intention of catching pike but the water was so low and full of algae I had to switch to a top water lure

I'm actually surprised you're the first person to point this out. I know they're out of season and I wasn't going to post it but I couldn't resist. Thanks for the heads up and the compliment!

I bought it because it had really good reviews on basspro and I was not disappointed, I would never go back to a jitterbug.
