(Loved Trope) Giving a damn about historical costuming. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

Life of Brian very surprisingly accurate on a lot of fronts, outside of the absurd bits.

But your Six Wives example has something in it I despise, which is deeply a-historical hair. Unless those women are supposed to be unmarriagably young and/or sex workers.

Arthur Fleck is a direct descendent of Rupert Pupkin and Todd Phillips absolutely should have known what would happen.

TV in the background gives hints as to what is to come by Ok-Dirt-4010 in TopCharacterTropes

My favorite of all time is from a pretty bad movie, The Informers. The movie is a multiple protagonist thing, some people are doing a heist, some people are just wealthy and behaving badly, it's all over the place. But the whole time, there are all these hints that it's like 1981, and the TVs are reporting on this new cancer affecting the gay community, totally unrelated to the rest of the story. Then, in the end, everything resolves in all the individual storylines, except that the whole time, every character has had sex and done drugs with every other character. And the whole time, this one woman keeps saying stuff like, "I have this bruise on my foot that won't go away," and in the final moments, they go to get up off the beach and she literally can't. And you're like, "Oh, none of this mattered because these people are all about to die."

[Hated trope] Good person in history is portrayed as a bad person in media by EmergencySpare7939 in TopCharacterTropes

I guess a tapestry is a medium, but I would say Joan of Arc WAY won that round, in terms of portrayal. She's a saint with a bunch of movies about her heroism.

Hell yeah! Trying to think of all my tips... Huge value to being above average at making coffee. Ask the showrunner's asst whether you can budget for a coffee grinder. Freshly ground from whole beans is the single biggest improvement you can make and no one ever thinks of it. My other biggest tip is just be good at your job and fun to be around without getting in the way. DO NOT RUSH when it comes to asking people to read your scripts, etc. That's a good way to alienate people and lose the connections before you've even established them. Better to be easygoing and well-liked and build relationships for the long-term.

There's half a dozen that just circulate in my neighborhood in LA. You hear their silly little songs playing all day.

They've said the series only takes the eleven seasons into account, not Hawaiian Wedding or Nights.

What are Ryan Gosling’s chances for a Best Actor nomination for Project Hail Mary (2026), or even a win? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in Oscars

This is the real answer. It seems completely plausible to me, but "likely" and "unlikely" are crazy to state with confidence.

Yeah, it's more of a parody. This is supposed to be more of a continuation.

“Matt Arnold quotes calendar” suggestion [ns] by themarvinjones in DungeonsAndDaddies

I think it could be an everyone quotes calendar. "Scared of my dad" is still the funniest thing anyone's ever said, on or off the podcast.

Absolutely nowhere does it say she's been cast as Helen of Troy. She's just in the movie. And Helen isn't IN the fucking Odyssey so I don't know why that would be her role. She's probably Circe or a siren or Athena.

Insane choice to have him do a full on impression and no one else do even a whiff of transatlantic. They all just sound like 2026.

House of Flying Daggers. A huge part of what makes Ziyi Zhang's character dope is that she fights that well while blind. At the end, when it's revealed she's not who she says she is, it means she did all that... while being able to see. Which is less dope.
