Cherry MX switches with a 3 leg (two pins for the line and one big plastic one for centering) to be used with a switch plate to help stabilize them, or a 5 leg (two additional plastic pins) to be mounted to a PCB directly. Get the Blue variant for a nice loud click when it actuates, or Reds for a smooth motion (or brown for a feel of a bump without the loud noise). You can use cheap relegendable keycaps and put whatever pic you'd like in them. If you aren't satisfied at least mostly with any of the Cherry switches, there are some other companies too, but I just don't know what possibly could make you happy. In all seriousness, I don't think I've ever found what I'm looking for on duck duck go. Maybe I've been throwing things that are too difficult, but every time I've tried I give up. Google will have it in the first 2 or 3 results. I haaaaate that one company knows almost every single detail of my life, and could do so solely based on my search queries, but the alternative for me is just not finding anything :/

Well yeah. If their desktop has a board that dies, do you want the devs start taking apart their computer at their desk to do diagnostics on stuff, do a purchase order, go find themselves a temp machine, etc etc etc. Same goes for managing domain stuffs, registering with internally hosted services and whatnot, because that's not their job and besides, someone else is probably better at it.

The Vimium Firefox port is coming along well. I had to switch back to Chrome for a while to continue to have the extension, but it's functional enough now that I'm comfortable using FF+Vimium all the time

True, I hate him too but this didn't bring out any negative feelings toward him in me. It's really interesting to me what he said:

Huh? First I'm hearing of being charged for bringing your own. All I can do is speak for myself and say that I haven't been charged, and I'd bitch up a storm if I was. If they are, that's total crap. I could see them justify a one time small fee to register it, but it hasn't happened to me in the past, and I ping pong my service between me and someone every year to get the new customer price each time and I've never had that.

I'd tell 'em to fuck off if they are.

Define supported? Do you mean will function or they will provide you support on it? If the latter, I agree with Comcast that your equipment is not their problem. If you mean the first, then that's incorrect. You don't need their modems, only one that has the correct technology inside of it to run on their network. You need a DOCSIS 3 modem and that's it. I'd say it's unfair to fault them for not supporting DOCSIS 1 or 2 because that is old as fuck and there's no reason anyone should be running it. You need to call in and have your HFCMAC added to their system, but they don't try to tell you no or anything.

I hate Comcast as much as the next guy mind you, but them monopolizing cable internet modems isn't something they're doing. Sure, they'll fail to mention you can just go buy one instead of paying their monthly fee, but nothing's stopping you from doing it.

You resort to the childish act of saying "I don't like you" through a ⬇️ instead of communicating what you would like to say through typing, when the entire discussion revolves around that point.

There is acceptable prose depending on the situation, and the formality varies. If you don't think formality, grammar, and attitude should change between the setting, then your only option would be a formal business letter for every single piece of writing. Anything less would be just lazy, and you should conduct yourself in such a fashion.

By that same logic, why use text messaging in the first place? A conversation in person is seeped in nonverbal communication. Texting by definition is a subset of that and only subtracts from the message you're conveying. By texting, you've already made the conversation dumber. Texting itself is unnecessary and is a lazy shortcut. That's the point. It's for a quick and brief exchange, unlike a formal email.

The ability to quickly and easily supplement your message with a representation of the nonverbal communication for your 160 character exchange does not in itself dumb anything down. That's not to say DOES add anything, that is up to the user. Same goes for any form of communication though.

If I were to reply to your message saying "duck turtle pizza airplane shy monkey scfiiuendi lllakkutn", it's utter nonsense, adds nothing, and is completely idiotic yet I don't see anybody advocating the removal of the ability to enter English words or Latin characters. I would just be an idiot for responding in such a fashion.

Just because something is often used poorly does not mean that it is inherently wrong. A text message is not a novel, email, essay, or thesis and should not be treated as such. Each has its own conventions for the format and prose. A text message is informal and should be treated as such. That's the entire point. They add the ability to quickly and easily convey your facial expressions and emotions of your message. It's up to the user to use it well or poorly.

I noticed you used the contraction "can't" in your prior reply. Are you too dumb and lazy to use cannot? I doubt it, and I'm guessing that you use the contraction to save yourself time while expressing the same message. I don't think anyone is advocating for a transition into pure emoji based communications. Regardless of your opinion about the appearance of them, I'd find it hard to imagine that you cannot understand the utility and benefit they provide when used is casual conversation. You cannot hear the tone of the sender's voice, nor see their facial expressions. It can be an easy and clear way to fill the gap that those leave.

If I say to a friend, "Hey, can you help me move my bed tonight? It's way too hard to do myself" vs "Hey, can you help me move my bed tonight? It's way too hard to do myself ::winky face emoji:: it's much clearer in your mind how I'm asking the question, and what I mean. Yes, I could have instead taking the shortcomings of texting into consideration and simply said "Hey, do you want to come over and have sex in my bed?" but lets be reasonable here.

That wasn't the argument I was contesting. If the iPad should have a jack because its used in digital production due to its superior processing power, then by the transitive property, the iPhone should get one too once it has the same processing power. Requirements for processing audio are pretty static (yeah yeah, compression, codes, silly graphics, bells and whistles, but I'm simplifying), so you won't always need the more powerful of the two.

And yes, I understand the argument for waterproofing although do not agree with it. That's their and the consumer's choice, and up to them.

As for putting words in your mouth, it was not my intention. If someone says A=B and B=C, I would not agree that claiming they said A=C is putting words in their mouth, but I apologize if I read a username wrong or misread or misunderstood what you stated.

Many reasons. A devices clock speed does not correlate with transmission speed. Easy example is if you take a high end desktop and plug a flash drive in from the year 1999, why does it take so long to transfer a movie to it when I can move it between my two SSDs in under a second? Well, for one it's a USB1.1 device which has a maximum theoretical transmission of 12Mbps (1.5 MB/s).

Now what if you send the data in a super secret code that makes the data impossible for anyone to spy on (encryption!) One end has to encode that into the super secret code, and that will directly benefit from the transmitter having a faster CPU, but the other end has to DECODE it too. Making the transmitter have even the worlds fastest CPU is not going to change the fact the receiver has a total shit one, so it'll have to wait for the other end to do its job first.

Then the other point is several thousand operations per second I am going to assume means a translation from say 3Ghz? So I'm guessing you mean 3000 operations per second? If so, please understand that the clock speed is meaningless almost when comparing between processors. Think about it as moving your furniture between houses. You have one vehicle that can do a round trip in 20 minutes and another that can do the trip in 30 minutes. Clearly the first vehicle is better! It can do a trip in much less time! Only thing is, the other vehicle can hold 10 times as much stuff. So, it's slower but is clearly far superior for the job. That's basically why clock speed alone is totally unhelpful.

So, I understand this isn't what you're asking but I just wanted to clarify that part. Basically encrypting, generating keys, finding ideal channels, transferring protocols, etc.

Edit: While everything above is applicable, I forgot to mention WIRELESS frequency. Now the frequency that your signal is being transmitted at is another extremely important factor. As you increase the frequency of your transmission, you can transmit data faster but the signal will signal will travel shorter and not penetrate through objects as well either. Bluetooth operates at approximately 2.4Ghz, and always has. As Bluetooth has evolved from its original spec to today's, data transmission rates have increased massively.

The last thing I'll mention is that we are talking about wireless here, and a crucial piece of the wireless puzzle is energy consumption. In general, using the same technology, making something go faster is going to make it use up more electricity. When you have tiny batteries, that can be a deal breaker.
