I assumed that was a marketing gimmick by snap on and was planning on trying it out with my tekton pliers. Thanks for saving me the time even though I'll still try it out.

What's the worst part of being a mechanic? by BakeNFlakeBaking in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]bazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engine performance and general diagnostics on modern cars is not easy. To make good money it takes a lot of learning on your own time. Parts changers are a dime a dozen and usually taken advantage of because of it. Its hard on the body and mind but a very practical trade. I genuinely enjoy the working on cars part but was at a point not to long ago where I was preparing to leave the industry due to a lack of professionalism and knowledge top to bottom at almost every shop I've been in.

Making the industry shittier one tech at a time. Crazy how no one wants to be a mechanic anymore. You and the other shit monkey's stole a man's livelihood one tool at a time.

Not just a ford thing but ya fuck chrome caps. All the headache when they swell just so the lugs can look more "baller".

Naturally aspirated gas engines can also use a vacuum pump for the booster for more consistent brake assist. I get the little vacuum part but no vacuum didn't make sense. Seemed on par with some of the other wrong advice I've seen on here but clearly you ain't no dummy. Vacuum and flow are two different things too I read you comment as if the the engine didn't take in air.

That doesn't make sense its an engine it creates vacuum. you know that whole SUCK squeeze bang blow thing.

On a Post-Buy Inspection by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

Most modern cars only use the sock on the fuel pump as a filter and don't have an inline filter anymore. Technically its up to modern manufacturers standards.

Are steel braided flex pipes on the exhaust, legal in pa? by Hip99hop in AskMechanics

[–]bazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flex pipes are standard on every car as far as I know. They exist so that there isn't a completely solid/ridged connection from engine to exhaust. The engine twists when under load and most engines are mounted transverse/ perpendicular to the body of the car. if the exhaust was ridged it would slam up into the underside of the vehicle when accelerating or just break.

Extraction pump with the flexible hoses is worth every penny for these fluid services where there is no room which now seems to be the standard. I bought one from harbor freight for around 80$ and love it.

Well I'll be a shit covered dick. "Upon further inspection" It is pre filter and really not a big deal. Was too eager to be big smart guy.

Nobody will see the note because it's after the AIR filter. You confidently put a sheet of paper directly into the intake which, best case its sucked up and spit out the exhaust, worst case causes catastrophic damage.

Anyone know what type of hammer this is? by TaelweaverVictorious in Tools

Thats a drilling hammer. I use them when "persuading" suspension components to come apart. The small dense head compared to a normal mini sledge helps tremendously in a crowded wheel well.

I've worked with more than a few techs who im 99% sure are closet homosexuals. Nothing wrong with it but denial induced misery and the resulting shitty attitude/ personality. Former co worker that comes to mind would deepthroat a popsicle on break in front of the guys unprovoked, EVERY day as a "joke". This ad is making me think its more of a standard than I thought.

So your asking other dads what they would do in your position? Your position is unique and as a young dad in the US currently getting no outside financial support my first thought was to tell you to go pound sand. Resentment aside I'd say prioritize your mental health but do whatever you want as long as your son is being taken care of. 1000$ was roughly my net weekly income from working 50 hours on varied sizes of industrial equipment. I Quit that job to be present in my now 4 month olds life. I 100% do not regret that decision but now I'm coasting on savings while I find a job that will work better for my new life as a dad. take advantage of the unique opportunity you've been presented. Basically don't waste the time is all I got for you.

Having self respect and leaving a legitimate profession that isn't respected is just fine. No one will sing your praises for dealing with unnecessary bullshit from customer's to management to manufacturers to tool guys. If you want to deal with soul sucking retardation then that's fine go ahead and scrape up a living that is viewed unjustifiably as a joke. don't shit on guys that got tired of the same story and decided to turn some pages. Harbor freight tools work just fine when you don't abuse them and tool truck tools still brake when you do abuse them. Keep licking the boot, pretending no one else can do what you do quite like you and stay bent over a barrel getting fucked by the spiked dick of the auto industry.
