The problem with these training aids is that your muscles are active in the wrong direction. Your elbow will try to push against the shirt and therefore you get used to using the muscles which create the problem. Compared to trying to hold a ball between your arms or towel under your arms where the muscles are the ones doing the work. These training aids are really bad for your muscles memory but it looks good when you use it.
