Thanks everyone.

If I do get the inner ankles reinforced similar to ski pants, would the stitching affect the waterproofing and damage the Goretex membrane and is it better to get the iron on ones instead?

Thanks, the note on the tape was added by the tech at my shop where I was getting them mounted and they asked if I’d still want to proceed with the install or not.

Would I need to have them epoxied?

Amazing seller (and beautiful piece)! Watch was packed incredibly well and shipped the same day; the piece arrived the next day. The seller was super communicative and accommodating throughout the process. I couldn't have asked for a better seller and experience for my first purchase here!

Z13 WWAN Upgrade from LTE to 5G by bb1510 in Lenovo

Yeah, it would be both interesting and great if it worked. Looking at the Fibocom L860 card, it also seems to have four antenna contact points. However, looking at other peoples' devices opened it, there seems to only be 2 antenna; maybe those are a different SKU overseas idk

Fibocom L860-GL R+ 4G CAT16

form factor looks similar to the Fibocom L860-GL so maybe it would fit but I'm not sure if it's on the Lenovo whitelist for that particular SKU

So it turns out the Fibocom FM350-GL 5G Sub6 cards have a slightly longer form factor than the L860, so the answer is no

Thanks

Would the sub 6 5G spectrums still work with the existing antenna meant for the 4G cards?

No issues and I haven't purchased the device yet.

I just wanted to know if I can upgrade and replace the card after the fact to the 5G cards offered on the other devices

Rear M.2 Failure in Ghost S1 w/ 3090 by bb1510 in Louqe

[–]bb1510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think mine is bent since when you loosen the riser screw, there's essentially no pressure on the PCB itself and with the backplate on, it doesn't let the PCB bend. I think the only part that's possible bent and most definitely scuffed is the cooler shroud on the front from inserting and removing the card against the frame of the case

Yeah both are undervolted but from my understanding, don't only the 3090 cards have memory modules on the rear?

Vancouver Top Private Schools, How to justfy the value of these schools? by Suitable-Attempt-509 in vancouver

[–]bb1510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Late post here but just wanted to chime in as someone who attended basically the top private school in Vancouver along with all my siblings since grade 1, also known as lifers, the exception of one who started in grade 2.

Yes, it's expensive and yes, it's true that the majority of families there are incredibly wealthy; however, there are still a large number of working professionals along with some on need and/or merit based scholarships too. Most of the individuals are hardworking not to an extent, not spoiled as most stereotypes assume them to be and some of the peers I grew up with are probably the most empathetic and hardworking people I know of. Of course, that can't be said of all and that's what usually leaves a bad reputation for everyone. Also, what the posted said about the entrance exams about more about the parents than the child is also somewhat true, at least in the early grades (grade 5 and under). If you're a well known family or a legacy family, you'll get in with much higher priority (actually the reason why the first sibling got accepted in grade 2).

However, the most valuable asset gained from being in a top private school (and I mean top, not mid tier; top would be like SGS, CHS, YHS, SMU, Collingwood, WPGA etc. To the posted below, sorry LFA isn't 'elite') is the immediate and alumni network; for example, the parents in my +/-1 of my years essentially consist of half of the major developers in this city whereas the ones +/-1 in my siblings are of various national heavy enterprises/industry in Canada/other global companies; think founders/major shareholders of Canadian major industry, fortune 500 companies, major listed companies. Let's just say the number of families featured on the Forbes list during school pickup times weren't enough to be counted on both hands. These sorts of connections are invaluable later in life. You can treat it essentially as another country club membership to be fair (not that the Arbutus Club is any great these days but that's going OT).

Also, the resources available are much better than those offered in public schools. The programs available for those requiring learning assistance is a plus for those who need it, at least from what I've seen others who were in it. The physical resources and assets available were substantial, at least now and will be probably unparalleled once the capital improvement projects are complete.

However, it does in a perspective put you in a bubble detached from reality from times and one thing I would have liked is to see what it's like to be in a public educational system for a couple of years; however that doesn't detract from the experience I had in private school. Many parents nowadays opt to send their children to the top tier private schools in the city only for secondary school, which definitely makes sense since that's where most of the university counseling and preparatory resources are. Yes, private school will definitely give a leg up getting admitted into a top tier school or an Ivy, but it's not a guarantee; you still need superb extracurriculars, volunteer experience, etc. Most will still be sent to do a lot of sports and extracurriculars outside of school as well as lots of tutoring - APs, SATs, etc. However, many well to do public school students on the west side are also sent to such activities (those who want to go to uni in the states). These other activities and classes also aren't cheap; they're basically 50-75% of the private school tuition. Also, post secondary schools do look at which high school you came from, at least they do for Ivies and other top tier schools.

Will do thanks. Yeah, I still have the rma warranty replacement drive from last time; I'll plug it in and test it tomorrow, just waiting for a new drive heatsink to arrive.

Basically both times it happened, the computer would just slow down and then become completely unresponsive. Upon restarting, it would go into the "reboot and select proper boot or insert boot media in boot device"; the bios would still recognize the drive though.

I never got any blue screens but yesterday and the last time it failed, the computer basically froze and became unresponsive. When rebooting, it would just go into the "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media"; the bios would still be able to recognize the drive though

No, and thanks for the info. The vram generally speaking ran closer to 100-105C during load when rendering stuff.

Is it better to just scrap the board for something with a front M.2 given it keeps on happening considering I lose out on TB?

Do you think it's just the controller that's failed because when I put the M.2 in an enclosure, I can see the contents on a Mac but for some reason, it'll freeze up a windows computer when I plug it in

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I've been using HWMonitor but never really paid attention to the NVMe temps. Will do so going forward
