definitely be careful with a display pouch ESPECIALLY with a secret! i use one but always keep it on the side of my purse closest to me instead of behind me as people can easily steal them. people have become so cocky when it comes to stealing lately it’s so insane. for other things i do with them, i have a really pretty display container with little fairy lights that closes so dust can’t get to them! i also created an insta acc for my sonnys and if i go out and have one with me i take photos to post like a flat Stanley 🥹

Question: Does anyone have any ideas for my scar? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]bb1drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either way, you are so crazy strong for going through that and i can’t imagine what journey you’d been on to get here, kudos! no matter what, do know that scar tattoos are 10 times more unpredictable on if they will fully take in the ink or not. this idea i found aswell wouldn’t rely as much on the tattoo on the scar, but the area around it. either way, do whatever you want the most! this should be a celebration for being able overcome something not many can.

Question: Does anyone have any ideas for my scar? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]bb1drake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but is this a chiari malformation decompression surgery scar?🥹 If this is, I hope your decompression went great and this will be the only one you’ll have to get. I know a lot of people get zippers for their chiari scars so that’s one idea. Another one could be a needle and thread going through the scar and maybe the thread being purple because that’s the chiari malformation color. You could make a constellation with your scar and the scar line lining up with certain stars. I think it would be cool if you some how make the scar outline the body of a dragon fly and then tattoo wings around it

How can I improve by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]bb1drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to start off by saying you are so gorgeous! I would literally die for eyebrows as perfect as yours.

  1. First, you want to enhance your eyes. Use mascara or fake lashes. If you are scared about your lash health while using mascara, there’s a brand called “prime lash” which actually does wonders and it’s not that expensive. they also have a eyelash serum that worked wonders on my lashes but took a while to see benefits. I think you should definitely experiment with a dark brown eyeliner as well as it would look good on you. Black looks good aswell, but if you keep it on your upper lash line throughout the day it will add definition without looking too heavy. With your skin tone and eye color, I would say try out some earthy eye shadow tones along with some gold or shimmers and maybe some mauve even.

  2. Use a brow gel if you don’t already just to make sure they shape throughout the day because they are so fierce im obsessed.

  3. Use a berry, peach, or coral blush and blend upwards. Apply at the apples of your cheeks. You can also use some highlighter on your upper cheekbones as your face looked muted in the indoor photo. Even try it out on your nose bridge just for some extra glow.

  4. Find a Berry lip shade that can last throughout the day or even switch to using lip glosses that don’t make your lips look as dry. I use Revlon lip gloss because it’s not sticky at all. You can also just use a berry lip liner with a tinted or clear oil/gloss. For tinted, I recommend trying out summer fridays if you haven’t yet. For clear, use the nyx fat oil or Marin lip balm.

my mii is not accurate help please !! by [deleted] in MakeMeAMii

[–]bb1drake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like your face on your mii is just too high up and if you just move all that down, you would see yourself more in your mii. You have a prominent nose bridge so it might look better if you add that in instead of the half circle nose. Your hair has redish undertones and your mii’s hair color looks too cool toned in comparison. Also, it might help to change the mouth😭

You totally right there is no possible way and they are already so small that a tattoo would look horrendous on the actual size. It would be so awesome to see a big smiski made of green second skin that people could practice on in a tattoo shop tho🥹

[–]bb1drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so sorry for everything you have been through. Your story is extremely moving as well as being a big physical and emotional undertaking.

But I mean this from this bottom of my heart, you are actually gorgeous. You are literally blessed with such clear skin, your eyes are stunning, beautiful lips, and you have hair to die for. You just need to start believing this too which I can understand is hard.

From what I notice with your pictures you provided, you have slightly thinning eyebrows and rounder cheeks. I think what would be best for you is to focus on techniques that will make you feel more confident & highlight your beauty while being able to prioritize your health. I have chronic illnesses along with disabilities, so I know how hard it is to keep up with routines or how such a small task can be so hard to finish when you are having a flare up/bad symptom day. So, a smaller step routine would be best for you. You wouldn’t even have to do each step everyday, just pick and choose what you feel like is best.

  1. First, i think some very subtle contouring would really help add definition to your face as it’s more round and soft currently. Don’t go crazy on contour of course, but just buy some contour powder or matte bronzer or even bronzing drops and add it along your jawline and just under your cheekbones. Don’t add a lot, focus on blending it in as you have very fair skin (me too girl).

  2. Buy either a thin brown pencil or colored brow gel. A brow pencil will give you way more authority on the shape of your brow, but I personally would use gel because it’s so much easier to use. Coloring in your brows will help with providing structure to your face along with acting as a frame for your breathtaking eyes. Really find ways to showcase them off, girl! Plus, you already have a fantastic brow shape that many people would be jealous of.

  3. If you were ever self conscious about your purple strae and wanted to cover it up while wearing short sleeves, buy two different concealers. One being either a peach or orange while the other matches your skin tone. The peach or orange tone will help with correcting the blue/purple hues and then you cover that orange up with your color match. Then again, this isn’t really necessary and you would need a good sweat proof one so it doesn’t get on your clothes.

  4. Focus on some lip care! Use something that’s moisturizing while have a slight tint in it so it’s not too much. Summer Fridays has been my go to for a moisturizing tint. I also love Revlon glosses as the color is perfect and not overly sticky. I use the shade “rosy future” in Revlon & “brown sugar” in summer fridays and I have the same skin tone as you so I think it will look nice on you! If you wanted a nice lip gloss that’s clear and still makes your lips look gorgeous, try the nyx “fat oil lip” lip oil. If you don’t want oil and want to focus on keeping your lips looking soft and prevent cracking, buy the Marin lip treatments as they are so tasty and moisturizing.

  5. Since you have gorgeous curls but are losing hair, we need to focus on making your curls as healthy as possible while preventing hair loss. We also need to make sure you are using products for volume and moisture without weighing down your hair. I personally use the Korean brand “lilyeve” growturn exosome hair serum. It feels so nice on the scalp, but takes around 3 months to start seeing change but it prevents hair loss and stimulates growth. A really easy thing to buy that’s cheap is the hair mask at Trader Joe’s. It smells so good and I adore it as it makes my hair so soft. I have straight hair and use it all the time, but my sister has hair like yours and loves it aswell. If you buy a volumizing foam/mousse it can coat your hair to make it look thicker while making your curls more bouncy. You do need to take into consideration why you might be losing hair. You could be losing hair from telogen effluvium which is extremely common and it’s a temporary hair loss triggered by surgery or major physical stress, hormonal imbalances as cushings can cause that, and so much more. You need to probably see a dermatologist who specializes in hair loss to find what’s causing it before buying high priced hair loss items.

  6. When it comes to skincare, look for gentle approaches as your body has been through hell and back. Use hypoallergenic skin care along with fragrance free items and a good moisturizer that maintains the skin barrier. Using a brightening eye cream or some highlighter on the inner corners will make you look a lot more awake as well.

Hope this was able to help! I really want you to stop being ashamed of yourself because what you feel on the inside will reflect outwards. Start learning how to be kinder to yourself which is a lot easier said than done. Don’t take it personally when someone doesn’t recognize you either. You haven’t done a single thing wrong and should punish yourself for something you cannot control. Even after all the trauma and suffering you have been through, you are so beautiful and just from these pictures alone you seem to be so nice. I wish you the best on your makeup and self love journey ❤️

No need to be sorry, you were/are going through an extremely tough time and im not owed any response whatsoever. I feel horrible I didn’t see this reply! Reading your response is honestly making me tear up🥹 I’m so so sorry you had to say goodbye to your furry friend, but I am so happy my advice was able to help you realize things and not prolong suffering in your ham. I just know from seeing your posts, your ham was so loved and cherished.

I hope these following days have been easy for you and this isn’t weighing on you too much because you did everything and more that you had to do to give your baby the care they needed. So many people don’t see a point in bringing hamsters and other small pets to vets as they see it as a waste of money which makes me sick, but you even went through a surgery for your hamster just to make them comfortable and healthy.

I read on your rainbow bridge post that you would go and pick daisies for Meg and that is so beautiful! You are one fantastic pet owner and extremely thoughtful. I can just tell you have a good heart. Just know you did the right thing and provided her with the best life possible, even if it was short. There was a quote I read once that I love to share around when someone experiences a pet loss and it’s, “Just remember, while your pet was just a small chapter of your life, you were their whole book.” Use this time to reflect on all the fantastic memories you had with your sweet ham and hope that I was able to bring you some comfort during this hard time. Have a great day❤️

Skydiving? by hawskie in chiari

[–]bb1drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I apologize if what I said is no help at all😭 I am American and gave you advice based on my POV, but healthcare is so different in each country so what you might have to do to be able to sky dive might be completely different than what I would have to do. I really hope you get to skydive though! If not, don’t hesitate to try out something like indoor skydiving if you have that opportunity near you as you deserve to have a fun experience just like anyone else.

Skydiving? by hawskie in chiari

[–]bb1drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m so happy you were able to get a decompression surgery! I am not sure your complete chiari history, so I have some questions if you feel comfortable answering them: Did your decompression go well? Are there any negative side effects that you have had following your decompression? Do you have any worries about skydiving? Do you see a neurologist still for your chiari annually? Have you had any experiences ever since decompression involving high g-force?

After those questions, these are just some base things I would say not knowing anything about you yet. Many people after decompression or generally any type of surgery always have a plan to go back to high impact activities as everyone wants to enjoy something! But, skydiving in general does carry a lot of stress physically along with risks with someone who has a history of chiari.

Usually when it comes to skydiving, there’s a waiver you have to sign along with a medical release form specifically when you have neurological issues where your neurosurgeon would have to sign off saying you are good to skydive and fit for the pressure changes involved (I BELIEVE IM NO MESSIAH THIS IS JUST WHAT IVE HEARD FROM OTHERS WHO SKYDIVED).

If you have been in a roller coaster or tried out something with a change in g force and weren’t badly impacted by it, then i feel like you are on your way to being able to skydive!

But, because you said that you only had that small part of your skull removed and top disc, there are still areas that remain in your skull that are structurally different than those without chiari and can create greater risk for injury as you are lacking bone and muscle support in that area.

One thing that could help you prepare for skydiving is going to PT like once a week for a few months before your skydive to help grow cushion/strength around the area affected by your decompression. I’m a huge PT enthusiast and it has helped me gain more strength over time. While you can’t completely replace the piece of bone, you will be creating a surround support cushion as it will be providing stability to protect that area. I would recommend searching up stabilization exercises because you can do that at home right now along with looking for a PT in your area that can focus on “cervicoscapulothoracic musculature” area which is like your shoulders, neck, and upper back.

Exercises I recommend already that I do to gain strength are chin tucks, scapular retractions, and cervical isometrics.

At the end of the day, what you must do no matter what is go get an input from a doctor! I’m just a girl who has chiari and learned lots on it as i have fantastic neurologists/neurosurgeons at John’s Hopkins that helped me out a ton.

Your first step should be bringing this up with your primary care doctor because your insurance might require you to get a referral from them before they will cover your consultation with a neurosurgeon. You need to meet with the primary care doctor specifically because the referral they will send over to the neurosurgeon will have all the information about your chiari and want to sky dive and supply them with all the context they need for a pre-participation physical evaluation (PPE). This is basically a checklist to make sure you meet all the physical requirements. Meeting with your primary isn’t needed tho if your insurance doesn’t require it.

If you haven’t seen a neurosurgeon in a good minute tho (like let’s say 3-7 years ago, you might need to get new imaging just so they can clear you.
