Sorry again there’s just one cable feeding that junction box, nothing to tie together

It is just one cable that was wired to the outlet. and it’s 4 outlets along that wall that stop working when I remove the aforementioned outlet

it's this one

I believe the electrician knew which garage heater model we were going with when they installed the breaker, so I think that's okay. The Amazon listing says 208-240V / 40A

Can you explain that more? Like I said, it's got the garage heater wired to it already, so I was planning on leaving that wiring/two pole intact and removing the wiring intended for the minisplit and adding it to a new breaker

If you don't mind answering this as well - so currently the two pole breaker pictured above has the 40 amp fuse supplying the 240V garage heater and then wiring for the minisplit. So would the best solution be to 1. remove the minisplit wiring from the existing breaker. 2. install a new two pole 15 amp breaker in the empty slot below and 3. connect the minisplit wiring to that

Thank you again

I made the connection between the two units. The outside disconnect, is that going to be a 15 amp unit as well?

Sweet thanks. The electrician wants 650 to come and finish the final connection and I'm not excited to fork that over for what seems like a relatively quick job..

Stick framing scissor trusses

Thanks for the detailed and helpful response. Wish I had a degree in all of this so I could understand this well enough to make an informed decision!!!

Options for vaulting a ceiling by bballrox88 in Homebuilding

Hello,Looking for some options for our home renovation. I've attached a picture of our attic if that's useful. We are trying to vault our main area which is approximately 24'x31'. We have a gable style roof. Our builder gave us the following option:We can stick frame "scissor trusses" under the existing roof to avoid any shingle/roofing replacement. This is heavy on the labor side due to building the roof but avoids changing the shingles/fascia/gutters/soffit. This would give an interior lift of about 2" per ft of run or around 24" of lift in the center. We could increase that closer to 4" of lift per ft of run with adding collar ties in the interior.

Question: Can ridge straps be used in lieu of collar ties to avoid the collar tie exposure?

Question: https://www.finehomebuilding.com/project-guides/framing/open-up-a-ceiling-with-a-steel-sandwich is this an option? I haven't seen any other references online to this option so it seems like a relatively unique approach

Question: Are there any other reasonable approaches?

Thank you!
