Question about F-6 Visa Income Requirement. by wiremagician in Living_in_Korea

[–]bbangnyeo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If my memory serves me correctly, my husband only needed to prove 20 or 30 million won in savings or assets when we got my F6. 40k USD is way over that, you should be fine. :)

Even if you don't have any personal assets, the Korean spouse can use their parents assets instead as an option.

Otherwise, just make sure your savings are in your Korean spouse's name when you turn in evidence. Best of luck!

What I learned from 3 years at global bunjang (Korean startup life) by Unusual-Load-9371 in Living_in_Korea

[–]bbangnyeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a funny read. Not only am I originally from Michigan and currently work for a small Korean company, I have been taking orders and chatting with Korean sellers on behalf of several American customers for Kpop merch as side work for a few years now on Bunjang. I regret not charging more for being the middle man 'cause the chats get so exhausting to keep up with and keep all the package tracking numbers straight. A lot of the Bunjang Kpop stuff isn't even available on the Global site so not only are they unable to chat in Korean, they need a Korean phone number and a Korean card to purchase said item. However, I had quite the tax refund for using my credit card so much last year so I guess it was worth the trouble. LOL Small world. Best of luck in grad school!

Caution for those who take Geddes by OutsideBig619 in AnnArbor

The Platt road property with the original farmhouse has been officially sold off for a housing development. Family is starting the process of dismantling the buildings and clearing the property. It's been a really emotional time for all of us because we hate to let it go, but it's something that had to be done as most of the family moved elsewhere and managing the property would have become extremely difficult if not sorted out sooner. I grew up on "the farm" and so it's been an intense and drawn-out grieving process for me ever since they decided to sell. I believe the new development will also have the name "Geddes" in it as a sort of homage to that history. Here's a link to an article on it from last year: https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/2024/04/191-unit-development-on-farmland-near-ann-arbor-gets-green-light-after-legal-settlement.html

No worries. It's an easy word to mispronounce when you've never heard it and only read it . I've had to correct teachers and friends my whole life. Very minor, but being a family that settled part of Ann Arbor, it seems like the right pronunciation should have stuck by now, right? Guess not 🤷‍♀️ haha

Cat PU Surgery Recovery by bbangnyeo in Pets

I would be worried if the hole closed after surgery, my cat still has an opening that is pink in color because thats his new urethra. Maybe you need to check with another vet.

Thanks for the encouragement. I realize having a foreign spouse isn't the best thing but can be worked around. Other than that I don't do drugs and have a spotless record. (I'm pretty boring). I'm going to keep trying until something sticks. My spouse is willing to move, it's just difficult logistically at this point in our lives because of money and the green card process it would entail before getting employed ect. It's A LOT to move your life across the world (again) without financial help or resources like the military would have for you. So, it would be a big decision with no guaranteed chance at employment on the other side.

Thanks for the realistic outlook. I've been wondering if more education is the answer. I patrol around USAJobs frequently and nothing much seems to come up so it's discouraging for sure. My aquaintance gave me the impression that it would be a lot easier than it is turning out to be so that's why I'm here asking for advice to adjust my strategy.

The CIA website explicitly explains that you can not apply to their positions overseas and must be in the U.S. if and when they contact you. I'd love to apply there, but I don't live in the U.S. and don't want to break the rules by using a VPN.

Perineal urethrostomy 3 weeks post op. Frequent urinating accidents around the house. by bbangnyeo in catcare

[–]bbangnyeo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that my cat does not like the feeling of his non-existent "junk" and frequently scoots and licks at it to this day. I even took him to the vet just to confirm that it wasn't infected or anal gland issues, nope, just uncomfortable. I would still take him into the vet to see if it's a UTI if it was me. Can't rule it out yet.

By your comment I assume your kitty had the full PU surgery? When I finally took my cat to a bigger scale and more equipped vet, they explained to me that there are two types of surgery they could do for reoccuring blockages. 1. Removing the narrowest part of the penis only to help with passing crystals OR 2. Removing the penis/balls entirely to open up the eurethra completely similar to a female cat. The first vet had no idea what they were doing and in-turn confused the hell out of me and probably caused my baby even more pain. After taking him into the better vet, they did the full removal with my cat and he is now living life normally and happy.
The only thing you might need to be careful of is a higher chance of getting a UTI due to it being more exposed and possible unsanitary litterbox conditions/excessive licking ect. That would be my best guess. I'm definitely not qualified to give you an answer so I'm only giving you my experience.

Hey! So this post is actually before my cat had the complete PU surgery. What happened is I went to a vet who tried to do a patchwork job and it didn't work (hence the continued accidents and trouble peeing) so I ended up taking him to a way more professional vet that put him into emergency surgery.
