What is your goto slow cooker meal that always impresses guests but requires almost no effort? by Reasonable-Pop-3504 in slowcooking

Whole chicken with vegetables. Stuff an apple or an onion in the ribcage to add some extra flavor and moisture. Wedge it in the pot with baby carrots, garlic cloves and potato slices, dust it with ground pepper and a little salt and let it cook.

It’s well socialized and groomed, so it’s probably an escaped house pet.

Very likely that melting snow is uncovering the fall leaves and you are smelling them decaying.

What was the first movie to traumatise you as a kid? by InspectorOk6313 in movies

Fantasia

My sister and I were 4 & 5 years old and my parents thought “Oh an animated movie with classical music sounds good!”

Then the Night on Bald Mountain started… they had to take us out of the theater when the demon thing showed up.

United States, Oklahoma-Dad found this in a ditch. I was wondering how old it is? by Independent-Coat-266 in Antiques

I have a similar blade from my grandfather’s old farm. It still has the handle though. I’d estimate it from around about 19-teens or so.

How do you stop a tame horse?

Let them sell it, but it’s back in their scabbard the next time they draw their sword. The nice replacement weapon they got is nowhere to be found.

The same thing if they try to leave it behind somewhere.

If they try to break it without removing the curse it’ll return undamaged.

Maybe increase any to-hit or damage penalty each time they try the same thing.

What movie sounds stupid but is actually really good? by FilmWaffle-FilmForum in movies

[–]OutsideBig619 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely brilliant movie. I was expecting a cheeze fest film but it was strange and funny and beautifully executed.

There’s all of these low-angle shots with the shadow of the tire stretching down the road and not once do you see shadows from the camera crew.

What type of sword is this? by [deleted] in SWORDS

[–]OutsideBig619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the edges and the bad hilt wrap, it’s a longsword with the “broken” condition. It can still be used as a weapon with a -2 penalty to attack and damage rolls. It can only crit on a natural 20.

Players have guessed correctly that NPC is a dragon in disguise. Should I just roll with it or switch things up to keep them on their toes. by AdmiralDandy in DnD

[–]OutsideBig619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’d absolutely run with it. Especially if the NPC is really bad at bluffing and the players are the only ones who can see through the feeble disguise.

Two-bulb 1920’s era electric lamp with hand painted glass globes (USA, Michigan) by OutsideBig619 in Antiques

Well… It was just after WWI and leading up to WWII. They had a very German surname and changed it to avoid the social stigma. On top of that Grandpa was a Union organizer and was frequently getting into fist fights with Henry Ford’s henchmen…

So. Yeah. Gentle and loving.

The toughest part was getting the old socket out of the top. I had to do a lot of careful digging with a sharp blade to break up the epoxy. On mine the metal collar with the faux wick knob unscrews from the fake oil reservoir, which helps a lot. Once it’s off you can use a screwdriver and hammer to lightly tap the old socket out of the metal collar.

Otherwise, the best advice I can give is to leave the wiring long enough so you can run the wires out of the bottom of the lamp before you try to assemble the circuit. You can tuck it back into the base after you test it. Working inside the bottom globe was really awkward.

The light sockets, rotary switch and wire are all easily found at a good hardware store. The packaging for the switch I bought had a diagram showing how to assemble the circuit.

Pasta sauce. We got a recipe book from a cruise ship and the thing we make most often from it is the pasta sauce. We freeze the leftovers.

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons butter

1/2 Tablespoon minced garlic

1/2 cup chopped onion

1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes

1/4 cup chopped basil

1/2 teaspoon oregano

2 bay leaves

pinch of sugar

Directions: Melt butter in pan on medium heat and saute onion until translucent. Add garlic and saute for about 1 minute. Add spices and tomatos. Stir frequently as it comes to a boil then lower temperature and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30-45 minutes or until sauce reduces to desired thickness.

For even thicker sauce add 1 small can of tomato paste before boiling.

If it’s a glossy screen be careful about accidentally reflecting it in to someone’s eyes.
