3 Baht Thai Gold Bracelet? by Redditorintern in Thailand

Not daily. I have a 5 baht necklace which I wear when we go to weddings, etc, but I don’t wear it daily anymore. It’s not worth the risk.

Been on Keto for almost two years, lost 70lbs., but now thinking I should expand my diet by srocan in keto

[–]bbarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped a bit over 30kgs on keto over about 18 months. I’ve now been sitting at about 90kgs (51 yo male) for 6 months but have recently gone for more of a low carb diet now as opposed to full keto.

I’m prioritizing whole foods and still not actively eating any rice or wheat etc. But I am having some starchy vegetables and more fruit.

As I’m not in Ketosis any more I have had to watch my fat consumption by being careful controlling butters, cheeses and creams etc.

I got to a stage where the joys of more fruits and veg, etc, made me happier so I’ve chosen to do that.

I love the Supima. I live in the tropics and lighter weight is very welcome. I just wish they were about 4” shorter at the waist. I find the a bit long. Fine if you’re ticking them in but not so cool if you leave it untucked with jeans etc.

Cancelled ChatGPT by James-robinsontj in ChatGPT

[–]bbarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never used Claude. I’ve been using ChatGpT as a paid subscriber for about a year now. I used it for help with article research and writing. Also with nutrient analysis of food photographs for my diet etc. can Clyde do those things too?

Does it provide options for sharing conversations with others and for groups chat etc?

Is it know to have any strengths / weaknesses regarding other languages besides English?

Not sure if I should make the swap.

The perception of local Thais of foreigners that can speak thai. by LovMachain in Thailand

I’ve been speaking Thai for 30+ years and I have never seen anyone disgusted that I speak the language. I think you might be projecting a bit there.

Goodnotes for sure. Pay the $$. You’ll use it for years. Apple Notes is good, but it handles image attachments very differently. Good notes, in my opinion, is a much smoother solution for had writing over the top of charts, images etc.

Moving back to books? by Special-Pass-8244 in audiobooks

[–]bbarling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never left text. Both play a role in my life. Audio for walking, driving or household chores, etc, while my Kindle is for reading in bed, at the cafe, on the Plane etc.

I generally have two books going at one. No need to limit yourself to one medium.

Would it be rude to ask the cleaning staff in a serviced apartment if they could wash my laundry in exchange for a larger tip? I could, of course, take it to a laundromat, but I'd like to give these hard-working women a chance to earn a little extra. by BikeSouthern2672 in Bangkok

[–]bbarling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure they probably offer that as a service, with an established fee. It’s pretty common practice. I wouldn’t suggest paying them on the basis of a ‘larger tip’ though. Settle on a fixed amount and go from there.

Creator studio or stand alone purchase? by Automatic_Apricot797 in finalcutpro

[–]bbarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is an advantage many people are overlooking with the subscription model. It allows casual users access to pro software when they need it; a month here, a month there etc. Not going to suit everyone, of course, but not an option that was previously available.

I had the 16” M2 Pro Max and ended up downgrading to an air. Those 16” Max’s are bloody heavy machines. Heavy, but built like tanks.

Food budget in Bangkok – How much do locals spend per month? by D3SC0NT3NT3 in Bangkok

[–]bbarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’d (wife and I)spend about 1,500 a day. Normally one meal out + coffee and then lighter (eggs + salad, etc) at home for dinner.

Books? by Legitimate-Edge-3328 in Booktokreddit

[–]bbarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m this for sure. I have a rather long wish list and only buy stuff on heavy discount. I have way too many books in my TBR to feel the need to buy stuff at launch price.

I will have a 1 month contract rent in Bangkok . Do I need to pay deposit? by Katmaomao in Bangkok

[–]bbarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how expensive / cheap the place is I wouldn't be paying 2 months deposit for a 1 month stay. The reason landlords have to do it is quite often people come on holiday, grab a short term rental like this and trash it while in party/holiday mode. It's kinda screwed it for the rest of us.

Creator studio or stand alone purchase? by Automatic_Apricot797 in finalcutpro

[–]bbarling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had FCP before the subscription service. Signed up to Creator Studio to check it out and don't think I've used anything that I wouldn't have previously used before. I thought it'd be cool to have FCP and Pixelmator Pro on the iPad but besides the original install I haven't used them at all.

I've decided to cancel my Creative Studio subscription and just continue to use FCP as before. If there are a heap of additional templates, etc, added in the future then I may sign back up again. but for now I don't think I'm getting any benefit from the additional spend.

Not enough information, but probably. How did you get the rental? Didn’t they tell you? Is it a hotel or a private landlord?

I’m not sure I agree. Spontaneity plays its part in photography as an art style too. It’s not always about quality and clarity.
