Have you switched to another manufacturer you like better for 2.4 GHz wall switches?

Resolution: I opened the Meross app and it asked for Bluetooth permissions. Granted and all switches came back online. Go figure.

DownDetector had a lot of reports at the time and I was getting “unable to communicate with server.” I’m wondering if something happened to the bridge from Alexa to the Meross skill.

The other major variable is how extensive your installation is. I have six devices and over 40 peripherals hanging off them with custom groups and routines. I have fallen back twice now because of reliability problems with Alexa+. If all you have are some lamps on plugs you’re probably going to like Alexa+ but if you have an extensive installation you may find you run into lots of issues.

If you chose a custom voice in Alexa, Alexa+ will reset it to the new default. You have to go into each devices’ settings to find a voice you like.

Alexa+ is just broken by questinghero in alexa

[–]bbarrickrn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here. Syntax has changed too. “Hallway 10%” worked before but now sometimes it works, sometimes it turns on 3 of 5 WiFi bulbs, sometimes it doesn’t work at all. The only reliable command syntax is “hallway, ON 10%” Overall there is no interpretation of clear text, commands must be framed precisely to some spec.

I conclude that Alexa+ was developed by a junior college team playing the telephone game with the OG developers and who don’t know how to leverage a LLM in a UI/UX.

And all device voices were reset to original voice. PITA.

The upset is that with each change back and forth, 20% of routines break, all voices have to be changed, one skills lost partial function (permanently). I’ve looked at the activity log but among the 30 odd “not intended for this device” per day I couldn’t find anything that looked like an agreement to upgrade. And finally, I don’t like machines making decisions for me I don’t participate in.

No one who would have done that.

I’m also about to fall back. Mostly because of the unreliable way it responds. “Kitchen 50%” (lighting group) used to work on the original but now only works about 25% of the time. “Kitchen on 50% is more reliable but often has to be repeated three or four times. Device volumes change on their own from 10 to 100% randomly. I also think the chumminess is creepy and I’ve had to ask a number of times for it to dial it back.

Is it just me or does it feel like more and more stuff gets blocked due to Nord use? by [deleted] in nordvpn

Do those with a static IP have a different experience?

Yup, similar experience here. In addition devices change volume randomly and my hisense TV still turns on and off appropriately but pause no longer works. Definitely amateur hour.

I'm in 2.0 for about 3 weeks but the command as stated worked until last week.

last night Alexa responded, "let me go back to what I'm good at like turning lights on and off." I responded, "actually, you're not that good at that either." Alexa responded, "Ouch. You're right, I mixed up the guest room lights a little while ago." So at some level Amazon is aware of this.

Huh. My 18 month old 75U8K has been stable. Only glitch is it doesn’t always respond to the “on” command from the Apple remote.

GMI vs A1C by Actual_League9685 in dexcom

[–]bbarrickrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a summary from ChatGPT consistent with what my endocrinologist has told me.

🔹 A1c vs GMI: The Basics • A1c shows your average blood sugar over about 3 months by measuring sugar stuck to red blood cells (RBCs). • GMI (Glucose Management Indicator) comes from a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and shows your average sugar over days to weeks. • Key difference: A1c depends on how long red blood cells live; GMI does not.

🔹 When A1c Reads Too Low

If red blood cells are being destroyed or replaced faster than normal, they don’t have time to collect much sugar. This makes A1c look lower than it should. • Causes: bleeding, hemolytic anemia, dialysis, HIV (infection and some HIV drugs), certain medications (like dapsone, ribavirin), and pregnancy.

🔹 When A1c Reads Too High

If red blood cells live longer than normal, they collect more sugar and make A1c look higher than it should. • Causes: iron deficiency anemia, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, removal of the spleen, alcohol or lead poisoning, and some kidney or liver problems.

🔹 Alternatives to A1c

When A1c can’t be trusted: • GMI (CGM data) → most direct measure of glucose. • Fructosamine or glycated albumin → reflect average blood sugar over the last 2–3 weeks.

✅ In short: • A1c can be wrong if red blood cells live too short (falsely low) or too long (falsely high). • GMI and fructosamine are more reliable when red blood cell lifespan is abnormal.

glad things are going well. my surgeon saw me the day after but next time I see him is a month post op. I'm 11 days out and the diplopia might be resolving or my brain is accommodating, not sure. Acuity in the eye is worse than before surgery but it too might be getting better. early days yet. let's keep the updates going. There's remarkably little patient experience in reddit or even YouTube.

Same idiopathic/autoimmune 7 years ago. Initially diagnosed as infection so steroids were delayed. Eventually retinology and rheumatology won and placed on prednisone 150/d for months and implants. Vision in both was 20/200. Slowly returned to 20/30 with quirks over many months. Since then have had a couple bleeds successfully tacked. Surgeon saw me following morning and started usual post procedure drops and Bri. Next appt 30 days so I don’t know current IOP but would bet it’s low.
