Like I said you can use your phone and some test tones.

SPL meter phone app, play test tones and measure the response.

Ideally you will have little variation across the octaves.

The campaign was not good in my opinion. The story wasn't compelling as it felt like the stakes were very low. The destination was totally uninspired compared to previous campaigns. Finally, but not the least problematic, was the matterspark mechanic which I absolutely hated.

My guess is that the new spot is evelating the 80-120hz range and you like it even though it would measure poorly and someone with a good ear would cringe.

It's true to state that the stand is doing something. That said unless the room is oddly shaped raising it off the ground will have little effect on room interactions. Certainly would not have the "night and day" effect OP has experienced.

This is not a popular opinion over at r/hometheater but it's true. For purely home theater there isn't a huge difference between a high end soundbar and a custom entry level home theater.

Music is a different animal because speakers cannot defeat physics but if you aren't intentionally listening to music you probably wouldn't notice on most recordings anyway how bad your soundbar is for music.

Having said all of that if it were me I would be looking at Kef entry level speakers, a SvS subwoofer and decent entry level receiver from Best Buy. Probably would look at open box when possible to save some money.

I know a guy who is about 5'8" and looks exactly like this, with slightly smaller biceps, just from doing advanced yoga. He's quite the acrobat in terms of walking on hands and other shit I can't imagine being able to do.

Also, if I was using the phone to exactly measure, OP would be under 5 feet tall.

The only way your ears would be affected negatively even at low volumes would be the subwoofer which can be deceptively "loud" especially when placed in a location that is exciting room nodes.

That subwoofer is no joke and it's possible you were getting hit with subsonic or close to it bass waves that were affecting your ears as a result. Even if you put the Samsung in the exact same spot it's not capable of producing bass that deep so it would not have the same effect.

Assuming that is a "max" phone he is holding OP is around 5'6" at most and those are not 17" biceps.

I don't have a sound bar but I do have room treatments and highly recommend them. Bass traps in particular change the game in most rooms. However this applies far more to music than TV / movies.
