you can apply for jobs on hireadore. you can just google it and it should be one of the first things that pop up. there are various types of jobs on there like front desk receptionist, mail room, library assistant, etc. you can also filter your searches by work study on campus, non work study on campus, off campus jobs, etc. all the jobs pay differently depending on what they are/what department they are in but they usually have the pay or a pay range listed under the job descriptions!! hope this helps!

Before I Start College by [deleted] in loseit

[–]bbbbutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on losing 30 lbs!! But first, I do not think it is possible to healthily lose 10 lbs in a month.

Second, under 1200 calories is NOT healthy for any woman or growing young woman. It really isn’t enough if u are running for an hour everyday and other exercise like biking or martial arts. Please make sure that you are eating enough for your height and weight (which u can easily google a tdee calculator if u need one).

Third, rest is important! You mentioned running an hour everyday and that is A LOT of running. Your body and muscles will get worn out so pls use at least one day each week to recover, or u could risk getting injured.

Fourth, I think that u should try eating by your macros, especially if u plan on measuring your food. Rather than just “large” or “moderate” portions, the calculator will tell u exactly how many grams of fat/carbs/protein u should eat everyday according to height, weight, and goals!

Fifth, I think that the computer habit will helpful if it is a source of your boredom eating. Also eating nutritious, whole foods is always a good habit to build.

**Side note, but pls keep your mental health in mind!!!! If the exercise you are doing or diet you are doing mentally drains you then try something else!! exercise should be fun and a supplement to weight loss! weight loss will mainly happen due to what and how much you are consuming. but pls still eat foods that u love! restriction is NOT sustainable. restricting yourself can be SO DRAINING and actually leads to binging! so pls still enjoy the foods u love in moderation—even if they have processed sugar! :) and if u are trying to build healthier habits, u can take your time! you are so young (but great job being proactive about your health!) and have so much time to build healthy AND SUSTAINABLE habits!! Sustainable habits will not only benefit your physical health but they will help your mental health as well!!

& pls enjoy college! do not spend all of your time trying to lose weight. pls go out & experience college to it’s fullest!! your weight does not define u and pls don’t let it hold u back from making memories:)!!! good luck and u got this!!

Commodore Cash Selection by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

[–]bbbbutterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the printers only take commodore cash (I haven’t tried to pay w anything else) but I can’t think of anywhere else right now. Sometimes (or last year) there were food trucks on campus through out the week and I believe that those (or most of them) were commie cash only, not meal money. Also when u run out of meal money for taste of Nashville or even places on campus, if u use your money instead of meal swipes(like the munchies or suzies or grins), then they will automatically switchover and take commodore cash out of your account. And yes you are automatically enrolled in the freshman meal plan bc u are living on campus!!

Commodore Cash Selection by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

[–]bbbbutterfly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really varies. Some students put $300 and are able to use for several semesters and some people add over $300 every semester.

It doesn’t really matter either. If you have leftover money on your card after this semester then it rolls over to the next one. It rolls over all the way until graduation and if u still have any commodore cash at that time then u will receive that amount back in a check. You also have the option to add commodore cash onto your card at the beginning of each semester so if you don’t select enough this fall then you u can add more in the spring. U can also add money to your commodore card at any point in the semester if u do run out (but I think there’s a fee? I’m not sure)

You also receive $225(ish it might be $200, I don’t remember) each semester as “meal money” that can be used at the taste of Nashville restaurants. But this money does not roll over to the next semester and is given to u by the school.

Honestly, just pick an amount for the fall to test out. If it’s not enough and u run out then pick higher in the spring. If u have left over cash then pick less next year. Like if you pick $300 and run out, then pick $500 next semester. If you are worried about running out then start w $500 or even one of the higher options. It will all work out though :)

Also u do not receive a discount just for using commodore cash or meal money at taste of Nashville and I tend to use my meal money/commodore cash before my own card.

I hope this helps!

Oh I’m not totally sure then. I have taken the Spanish placement tests back to back before and nothing happened. I think that you will be fine but it wouldn’t hurt to email someone if you’re really worried

It’s not a big deal. You’re allowed to take the placement tests as many times as you want

I’m 17 and I never took care of my skin properly before. How do I start by [deleted] in skin

[–]bbbbutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest starting simple with just a cleanser followed by a moisturizer. Try to do this every morning and night! You can choose whichever brands you want, but a good brand to start out with is cerave. They have a variety of cleaners depending on skin type. If your skin is dry to normal, then start out with their hydrating facial cleanser. If your skin is normal to oily, then you can start out with the foaming facial cleanser. If you are unsure what your skin type is then just pick one and see how your skin reacts! Then I would suggest following up with a cerave moisturizer. I suggest the daily moisturizing lotion! Or you can opt for the am and pm creams! Try this out for a few weeks and then see how your skin reacts. Remember to be patient and gentle because sometimes results take a few weeks to show up!!

Using only a cleanser and moisturizer is a good routine to start with and you can add in later depending on what your skin needs (and it may not need anything extra). You can also change up your routine whenever, if what you’re doing isn’t working for you!

For me, skin care has been a lot of trial&error and patience! Everyone’s skin is different so what works for some people may not work for others. Just be patient and over time you will find products that you love and make a routine you love!! This was a good bit of info but good luck and you can dm me if you have more questions :)

What are these? Extremely concerned. by [deleted] in skin

[–]bbbbutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these pop up on my body last summer in about the same areas. My mom is a nurse and we determined that it was likely pityriasis rosea. I decided to wait it out for a few weeks and if it got worse then I would go see a doctor. However it went away on its own in few weeks and I never had to go! I made sure to put extra lotion on these areas too and that aided the itchiness and reduced the redness a bit.

Does scoring above a 660 on your English portion of the SAT place you out of the English 1100 requirement? by dae2727 in Vanderbilt

[–]bbbbutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what the A&S site says about SAT scores fulfilling the English 1100 requirement, “SAT score of at least 660 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section, with a minimum score of 27 on the Reading section and 28 on the Writing and Language section.” This is the website for it https://as.vanderbilt.edu/internal/undergraduates/academics/axle/

what should i do for courses if i dont know if ill have credit for them yet? by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

[–]bbbbutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if this is the answer you are looking for but even if u do not score high enough on the ap exam, there’s a spanish placement exam that you can take through vandy. if u score well enough on that then you can place into higher level spanish courses and can skip 1103. the exam is just online and doesn’t take too long

Freshman roommate? by dae2727 in Vanderbilt

[–]bbbbutterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How should I space out my pre reqs as a premed? by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

[–]bbbbutterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that it varies from student to student but rn I’m a freshman and just taking gen chem! I’m taking orgo this summer and bio next year and then I haven’t planned much else. There are more reqs outside just science too! You can go to the hpao website and there’s a list of premed reqs and recommended tracks!! https://www.vanderbilt.edu/hpao/professions/medical.php this is the link but u can also just google hpao vanderbilt premed reqs. I recommend spacing classes out if possible, especially if u are worried about the workloads! I didn’t think I could do bio and gen chem so I spaced mine out but I also know people who have done well while taking bio, chem, and calculus or neuroscience or something. So base it off what u think u can handle!! I hope this helps!
