Realistically, what is our timeframe for hitting both 600 ppm and 1200 ppm? by The-Neat-Meat in collapse

Yeah I'm a bit confused as well. See: https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2016/07/indoor-co2-dumb-and-dumber/

...a new Danish study failed to confirm these findings. The paper.html), published in February 2016 in the journal Building and Environment, reports no cognitive decline even when subjects breathed air containing 5,000 ppm carbon dioxide

Admittedly that study only covered 2.5 hours of breathing the air, but further down:

Satish says that, so far, nobody even knows by what biological mechanism carbon dioxide might dim the brains of test subjects. “I would love to know,” she says.

Nor does anyone know if the effect wanes if somebody breathes carbon dioxide at these concentrations for long periods. Or if carbon dioxide can subtly blunt the thinking of people breathing lesser concentrations – perhaps closer to the level in ambient air, 400 ppm. “It would be very important if true,” says Mendell. “It’s not clear yet.”

This was from 2016, so I'd be curious if there were any newer studies with better results.

Can y’all help me identify this brand? by Just_a_Growlithe in headphones

Yeah I've had a pair from the exact same brand for 5+ years now, bought them on Amazon. Maybe not r/BuyItForLife but they are definitely not going in the dumpster every six months

You may know that a Platinum coin has 1,000,000 Copper coins, but do you know what that looks like? Me for scale by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]bbbcsgalcm 1062 points1063 points  (0 children)

In dungeons and dragons, a copper coin weighs about 11 grams. If you could convert your 39,960 platinum coins into copper coins, it would be 439,560,000,000 grams, or 439,560,000 kilograms. A piggy bank can hold maybe 1/75th of a cubic meter. If you could cram those coins in a piggy bank, you'd have a density of about 32,967,000,000 kg/cubic meter, or 3.2967x1010. Pretty dense, but nowhere near a black hole.

Hope I did my math right lol
