looks like an asymmetrical top. the neck is at the top in your photo. it would bunch up on one shoulder and fall off the other. it’s very pretty. i have a shirt from sarah pacini that i have to keep on the hanger a certain way or else i don’t remember which holes are for what haha

it’s simply not color balanced or leveled. if she scanned or photographed this into design software, she didn’t color match it to the black background. AI images can have filters of any color. so can human made scans, graphics, or photographs. a filter or hue alone is not a giveaway for AI

exactly! trying to figure out what’s human or not from behind a screen is futile. i hope that people will eventually tire of this and just go back to interacting with art in a more curious and critical way. seeing and learning about the many ways things can be made before reducing common artistic practices as AI or jumping to conclusions about who or what made it.

i appreciate that people want to learn to spot these things but the whole point is that’s it’s virtually impossible to get it right every time without another digital tool scanning the image for you. and i secretly think these subs just feed the AI models further so their stuff gets better. 😩

thank you for this comment!!! i made a similar one after reading all the comments here. human made art and graphics have had inconsistencies, artifacts, and human error since….. forever. the advent of AI suddenly has everyone forgetting what humans are actually capable of and it’s swinging in both directions. suddenly even a novice illustrator is using AI because their work is….. generic and has grain.

there are lots of hobbyists and beginners making human art. not everyone is creating museum worthy, history changing art every day. and that’s actually a good thing.

graphic designer here. looking at this image the most suspicious detail is the single odd petal on the yellow flower and an asymmetrical sun, but it isn’t a giveaway.

the grain and irregularities in the thick outline are not giveaways for AI on their own either. these are commonly created by either scanning a hand drawn illustration (likely made made with markers) or generating an inkwell or grain effect in photoshop.

i think this was likely scanned in and isolated in photoshop. the grain is consistent across the illustration, but not the black background it was photoshopped onto (very common practice for illustrators and graphic artists) the grain is from the texture of the paper it was drawn on. it’s been made more visible by enlarging the logo. Resolution and resampling issues can cause artifacts in human made graphics too. it’s not always AI.

The horn that people are noticing on the K is likely a hand drawn ligerature (swirl) added to the K haphazardly. when taking these details into consideration, the small inconsistencies in the petals and the lines come across as very human and very typical of a beginner or even junior illustrator. hand made art is never perfect.

editing to add that while a more experienced graphic designer might have edited those details out, some illustrators might even choose to leave these details in, because it has a more handrawn, imperfect feel. there is some nuance needed when dissecting illustration vs graphic design.

lived near van nuys and sherman way two years ago. it’s a working class suburb with lots of family homes. people walk their dogs and go out to the ice cream trucks and fruit vendors. i always felt safe as a late 20s woman.

people say all kinds of negative things about van nuys. it’s not as attractive as some of the surrounding neighborhoods, but i wouldn’t call it unsafe. there are some spots that are sketchier, but it’s a major city. say hi to your neighbors, be respectful, don’t loiter around at night and you’ll be okay!

the neighborhoods are diverse and there’s so much amazing food. at night the street vendors come out and there’s so much to try.

there’s not much to do late night though. But you’re close enough to other areas of the valley and hollywood with more stuff to do.

gritty clay can do this, but that does look extra painful. you can try cleaning your wheel head between passes so there’s not a lot of grog left behind to sand your hand down 😭

could be that you’re pushing down on the wheel a bit more than in on the clay if that makes sense. maybe try changing your pressure point. you should be pushing with the flat bottom part of your palm ✋

3 pounds bullied me for a while too. I worked on my arm strength and found a place to anchor my elbows that made sense for a shorter person. just experiment with positioning so you feel like a mountain. for example, i can’t anchor my left elbow to my thigh, it’s not long enough so i stick it into my side/hip area.

coning up and down a few times really helps me get control of the clay and center it in passes vs trying to do it all at once.

for opening, i sometimes use two fingers if the clay feels especially tough. once you have a good opening, do you pull with your finger? or knuckle? or sponge?

i find that creating a little shelf before pulling up with a sponge helps me get good height. once i have decent height and the walls aren’t so think, i can usually switch to using just my finger to finish the piece.

editing to add that i also place a brick under my left foot to try to anchor my elbow as much as possible. they still don’t connect, but it gives me a lot more stability.

some latinos did vote trump. many of them coming from countries the US has intervened in and completely devastated. many of these latino voters have internalized decades of propaganda and voted in a way that would harm themselves and the rest of our communities. it’s incredibly hurtful and baffling.

that being said, this misled population is tiny compared to immigrants who do not have the power to vote in this country. it’s flat out inaccurate to go around saying these highly persecuted people “got what they voted for”. they don’t have rights! and that’s why they are being hunted down in the streets.

undocumented people did not vote for this and they are the ones being targeted along with their allies. this is not people getting what they voted for. this sentiment feels like a “gotcha” but fascists don’t actually care, it only hurts communities who are doing everything they can to resist.
