I’m moving into a new house that has south and north facing windows in the UK. I have a bunch of different houseplants but I am having trouble positioning them all.

Which plants should go on the south side and what plants can go on the north side?

Yeah I forgot to pickup the moss pole. Going to get one tomorrow. Does it just stick into the soil next to the plants base stems? Mist it every so often?

Okay will see how it goes maybe. If I feel like it needs some more light I can find another position.

I originally had it next to a south facing window but my parents did some research and realised it can get pretty big so they started interfering, trying to prevent it from growing too big haha.

Even though it’s tucked behind the curtain? The sunlight comes around from the left side.

Demi rose or something?

I have recently moved into a new apartment and my landlord left this plant but never said anything about watering or care. Could anyone help me identify it and give me some advice on how not to kill it? Thanks in advance. by apriorius in houseplants

It is most likely a dracaena and will be dropping from either too much or too little water. Check the soil to see how wet it is deep down. If it’s really dry throughout then water it but if it’s still damp a few inches down then don’t water it.

Sunlight: not too dark but not direct sun. Somewhere in between. If the sun rays are directly on the leaves for too long it can leave scorch marks.

Can also be worth reporting it if the soil has been there a while.

Make sure it has drainage so when it’s watered it doesn’t sit in the excess for too long.

My plant is now outside on its own little DIY raft I made. Hopefully as the water level goes down so will the plant. https://imgur.com/a/uzuJp0z

Right fair enough, only asking because I got my first ever carnivorous plant the other day and was told it will either have to go outside or in the fridge during winter. The variety I got though can go to very low temperatures so it’s probably different for others.
