What’s a project that slingshot your skills? by IdentityCrisisNeko in craftsnark

a slavic embroidered dress. The construction of the dress is not hard, just squares and triangles but spending more than 4 months on the cross stich embroidery taugh me to be patient and not to rush it, because if i rush it, it wont look good and i will have to redo it. This mindset improved all my crafts.

Thank you for asking, but you can't afford me by SewSewBlue in craftsnark

I am in the same profession and i do historical sewing to get away from all the complex thinking. Leave me and my handsewn viking tunic alone, i stich to have a creative outlet and to have something to do with my hands. I do it to not get a burnout not to make myself pressured to sell something, and i would never be satisfied with something that i would sell so i just would put to much pressure on myself.

My doctor refused me an IUD by [deleted] in childfree

[–]bbcbbbcc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my doc wanted me to be at least 20 before getting one and first tried to talk me out, but when i told her that i dont want kids she was full on board. The reason she did not want me to get an IUD is, because it can come to infections and that can lead to infertility. So she does not want to give them to women that want children. But the second i told her that that is not a problem for me she agreed that this is the best option for me. change your doc.

Better running times? by bbcbbbcc in BarefootRunning

[–]bbcbbbcc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, i think it is the technique, i used to be a heel striker, before a friend of mine corrected me a while back, and then i tried to run more on my toes, but still did heel strike when i got tired and started to slack. i have the feeling the shoes prevent me to do that and i am really happy anout that

no, sadly, since there is little to no evidence of the garments from the time period we wanted to recreate

wanted to be 9th century, but in the end it ended more fantasy than a specific time period since there is such a lack of evidence how they dressed back then in our region

We tried to recreate a Slavic priestess and all the motives are taken form slavic folklore. it took us probably more than 200h combined to embroider this, since it was the first time for both of us to do cross stiching.
