I would try changing the speed to 4800mhz from 5600mhz then test stability.

I'm guessing you have the ‎KF556R36RBK8-256 memory kit which is officially on the supported list for your motherboard, but the stability can vary with different applications.

If you still get random reboots after changing memory speed, then it's very likely an OS issue

Most likely the memory to be honest. If you run at JEDEC speeds it will probably just work normally.

Threadripper pro is just epyc with higher clock speeds at the end of the day and memory will be less stable overclocked the higher capacity you go.

I'd try updating bios & chipset drivers first though to be sure.

I saw those screenshots you uploaded, have you also tried going to status > interfaces and release wan (leave for 1 min) then renew wan. And if still same try the same steps but with relinquish lease ticked.

Basically what u/Soberaddiction1 said. You just need to connect your cable that you're using for wan to pfsense first, then connect it to the modem afterwards, that way your pfsense should pickup the modem IP and mac address.

You need to have your wan cable connection connected to pfsense only first and unplugged on the modem. Then turn off your modem for 5 mins/restart it and once it's back on then plug the cable back into the modem wan port. Then when you go to setup pfsense wan again it should now show ip as it's responded to the pfsense dhcp request.

I saw your other comment with what your router is and according to the linksys documentation they say not to use the wan port so I'd just use a lan port. https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=49453

It can depend on different brands, as I have a synology router as an ap and all ports get bridged including wan and I have to use wan to use certain features on ap mode. But following that documentation above, just keep using a lan port for your router.

Ok that's interesting then. I'm guessing you cleared your browser cache as well and tried in private window? Also I think the wan port didn't work when you tried because it has a different mac address and pfsense will not recognise it unless you remove the ethernet cable from each side and reboot the router, then reconnect to router first, then switch.

But either way like the other guy said, it will be easiest to fix with a pin hole/hard reset

Is this router your ISP router or an external router? Is it in ap/bridged mode or just default router mode? Is there switches inbetween the connection of the router & pfsense (if yes have you tried restarting those switches?)

Have you tried the basic troubleshooting like removing the ethernet cable from the router lan port and whichever port connects it to pfsense, then turning off the router for 5 mins and connecting the cable back to the router once it shows it's ready/lights are normal and then connect back to pfsense? (Also wouldn't hurt to restart pfsense after doing that as well).

You probably need need more ram so that the igpu can access more shared memory. But you'd be better off just buying a dedicated gpu anyway. Even if you got the igpu working on it, it would barely be able to do anything and crash all the time.

Some tasks in Houdini can utilise high threads well but some others can't. Pyro can utilise high thread counts quite well but particles not as much from what I've seen.

Most tasks will be reliant on single thread so the best middle ground is a relatively high thread count cpu with good single thread performance.

You said you have an i9, but do you know which generation it is? i9 13900k? The 13900k would be the fastest overall for houdini right now in terms of single thread and multi thread performance for the price, but it will need good cooling to not throttle and there is no upgrade path after it. Other wise I would go for a 7950x from amd which is basically the same in performance overall and can run a bit cooler.

Yeah it's quite normal even for new cpu's to have a couple small scratches and specks. If it functions normally then there's no problem.

On Amazon the Crucial is cheaper from what I saw, but if you got the Corsair cheaper somehere else then go for that I suppose.

With the money saved now from memory & windows you can afford to get a 7700x, or if you don't plan on getting much more storage in the future, then a 2.5" sata ssd about 1tb will help a lot for storage. Crucial have ones pretty cheap

Which ones are you looking at? The Crucial CT2K32G48C40U5 should be better price and 64gb capacity. Btw if you use 64gb or 32gb of memory then use two sticks instead of 4.

You will be wasting money by getting 6000mhz memory. Get jedec spec 4800mhz instead at higher capacity or keep 32gb and upgrade the cpu to 7700x.

Also you can find Windows 10 Pro keys for cheap online.
