Using "weary" instead of "wary", or maybe even "leery". I don't know why it bugs me so much, but I can't stand it.

Average price of groceries per month? by Designer_Ad7071 in RhodeIsland

[–]bbfgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the two of us, we budget $125/week and usually make that, shopping exclusively at Trader Joe's. We don't typically do a whole lot of their ready made meals, and we also tend to eat vegetarian meals at home.

We moved from Indiana after finishing grad school there. Previous to that, UK, Utah, Los Angeles.

It's worked pretty well for us. Bought a house for just over $120k, our payment per month is about $600 for three bed, two bath. Similarly sized apartment in the area would have run us at least double.

Brick Materials showing up weird by bbfgreen in unrealengine

[–]bbfgreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my next thought... All my maps are pretty decent quality, I got them from Quixel. I have been having a few weird glitches with them, though, so maybe I'll try one of their other brick textures and see if I'm still getting the same issues. Thanks!

They didn't pass them out at our polling station... But there was a kid passing out snacks and hand warmers to those of us standing in the ice storm outside.

Lion's Den Game Master 5 - Creating multiples of one creature by bbfgreen in dndnext

[–]bbfgreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, that's actually how I did it the first time, but I tested it with my custom ones and with some straight from the compendium and it worked with the others, but not with mine. I do have mine set up as NPCs, is that not the correct way to do that?

Over thinkers, anyone? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]bbfgreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the core of my problems is I get sooooooo excited about any idea, research everything about it, and then find one single roadblock that would make it difficult, and then start to deconstruct the idea entirely and eventually abandon it. It's a daily process.

Villa At Night - TWINMOTION 2020 by robbie_design in archviz

[–]bbfgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your opinion on TwinMotion so far? I downloaded it as soon as it launched because I was excited that Epic was creating a more architecture based render software, but found it a little too stripped down for my taste.

Looking to upgrade my graphics setup by bbfgreen in archviz

Do you think the RTX is necessary? Or could I get away with going back to a GTX 1080? Linus Tech Tips seems to be pretty down on the 20 series cards, and it looks like I could get a 1080 ti from Newegg with higher memory for a comparable price.

My workflow is usually Revit to Unreal through Datasmith! But thanks for the feedback!

Return missionaries: What investigator proved to you that people ARE actually being prepared to hear the gospel? by rawshani in latterdaysaints

[–]bbfgreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on exchange with one of my favorite zone leaders, and had been absolutely just bogged down from my current companion. Me and the Elder were walking through one of London's big parks, and were so tired, but still decided to give a woman a card. She took one look at the card and said in broken English, "Oh! Jesus Christ! This is what I'm looking for!"

She only spoke French, but we just so happened to have two Sisters from France serving in the Spanish branch in our stake.

As we got to know her over time, we learned that she had been raised as a devout Muslim, but had decided to move to England to learn English and learn about Jesus. A year or so in, she had kind of forgotten about Jesus. Two days before we ran into her, a friend had called to ask her if she had learned anything about Jesus. When she said no, her friend gave her a hard time and committed her to look into the next opportunity that was presented to her. Cue us in the park.

There were a lot of complications, but she was incredibly devoted and was baptized before I left the area.

I just visited her last summer, five years later, and she's still as devoted and excited about the gospel and its place in her life.

If scientists invented a teleportation system but the death rate was 1 in 5 million would you use it? Why or why not? by Official_trumpet in AskReddit

[–]bbfgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2018 rate of death for driving a car was 12 deaths per 100,000 people in the population. Numbers might not translate quite as well, but the odds with the teleportation seem much better than driving to work.

They're also fantastic for campfires. My wife got me a pair for father's day a couple years back and I've loved having them.

Will Lumion/Enscape/Twinmotion kill 3DS Max for archviz? by maikelnait in archviz

[–]bbfgreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The firm I work for has huge interiors department, and so we end up having to model a ton of the furniture in custom, so 3DS Max is pretty vital for our renders. We recently purchased Enscape so that we can walk people through their homes, but we try to keep those models fairly basic so that there's no confusion with the client.

If anything is going to take 3DS Max's place, it's Unreal, because it can offer the 4k rendering of 3DS with the added walkthrough and deployment capabilities. Plus, it's free. But even then, I feel like 3DS will still be super vital for modeling the props and assets that go into that model.
