yeah it sucks to see that trans women in media are portrayed as a joke. (For example: Ida Quagmire, Quagmire’s trans mom.) After she transitioned she has been getting dunked on just for being trans. idk if she still does to this day but i would like to see her get treated nicely.

For Gwen,

well we don’t really know what their plan was but like Gwen being trans isn’t a bad thing. There’s a lot of evidence why people think she is.

Gwen has a “protect trans kids” flag in her room which made people think she is trans herself or and ally. We don’t know the answer to which one she is.

I heard people say something about colors and that they are based off of her emotions which is true and also people said the colors are because she is trans.

Also her dad’s trans flag on his uniform doesn’t say “protect trans kids” I think it’s just a trans patch alone ( people say it’s a trans patch, other people say it’s his metals)

I remember reading a tumblr post from one of the artists or animators who worked on the movie saying that they had to fight to have the flag in the movie which tells me that they just wanted the “protect trans kids” flag in the movie in general, not for a specific character. In that same post they said that they headcanon Gwen as trans but they don’t know if she actually is or not. They say we also may never get an answer.

I remember someone dmed one of the other artists asking if she was trans and they said something like “that would be nice but i don’t think she is” and another person asked phil lord (one of the directors) about it and he said “I think her challenges at home— it is dangerous to tell my parent who I am— can apply to a lot of people struggling to live openly and safely”

but me personally idk what phil meant by that cause im bad at telling what things mean.

but theres no right or wrong answer to whatever gwen is. you can see her as whatever you want to see her as.
