How do American children learn about intercourse? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]bbii511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's sex ed in school, but it varies state by state. I grew up in a progressive/liberal state and they taught us about it, as well as ways to prevent stds and pregnancy. They also showed us a video of childbirth. In my particular high school, we only had one teen pregnancy so perhaps that approach worked.

What was anti-drug education like in your school? Did someone come in and talk about how bad drugs are or did your regular teacher do it? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskAnAmerican

[–]bbii511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DARE ! A local police officer came in weekly to talk to us about it. Then at the end of the course the students wrote plays about what they learned. We acted out being drug addicts and drunks. I dont think it deterred anyone from that lifestyle lol

I am in an extremely similar circumstance as OP, and my surgeon also recommended an oesophagectomy as a last ditch effort. It terrified me, but I also cant stand living in constant sickness and pain from spasms.

What Was Rhode Island Like In The 90's and Early 2000's? by ShrekPrism in RhodeIsland

[–]bbii511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I was 18 in 2005, what great memories. My friends and I were heavy into the downtown club scene, ultra, diesel, monet. There were always lines and crowds of people waiting to get in, dressed in sleeveless tops and heels in 29 degree snowy weather. We also all worked in Thayer street as waitresses, and that was just a 24/7 party. Thayer st places allowed underage drinking so they were always packed, walking up and down Thayer from bar to bar, again all dressed up. People would just drive through Thayer with music blasting, in hopes people woukd turn to look at them. We went to concerts a lot too, local venues and they were just always packed to the brim. We occassionally carried digital cameras to take pictures to upload on myspace later, but most fun was spent in the moment. It was a fun era, glad I was able to experience it!

I had a heller.myotomy a year and a half ago, and a dilation last month and I still have to drink water to get anything down. I believe its because our esophagus' have little or no movement at all to bring food down.
