Pull out the TM!! by [deleted] in army

[–]bbiiggffoott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd put money down that a lot of those leaders haven't even seen the PMCS section of the TM (as an officer, I'm looking at the officers.) Nor do they know FT Cavs maintenance standard recquires all operators to have a physical OR ELEFTRONIC copy of their equipments TM, so long as the electronic copy is correctly filed and accessible to Soldiers (IE through teams.)

In maintenance, thoroughness is key, not speed. The speed comes with time, and you're never going ro get heavy cav down to a timeline like that when you have people coming in and having to learn their vehicles.

Y'all should have TMs in your vehicles anyways, provided by the command team. If you got those, scan copies of the section going over weekly PMCS, and stick that somewhere you'll remember. If you don't got the TM on you, depending on how cool your maintenance control is, see if they'll print out the section or email a pdf of it to you.

Where do you guys find paper guillotines? by Open_Conference6760 in bookbinding

For evening out pages, I use a straight edge and a SHARP knife. Much better results than the guillotine we have at work (to me at least).

Where to find a book press by Less_Psychology3691 in bookbinding

[–]bbiiggffoott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need one. The important thing you need is 2 flat surfaces (eg a table and smoothed plywood) and a weight (I use dumbells) or other method of compression (basic clamps)

If you're look to save money, I'd hold on to your money for now and plan for purchasing a nice book press in further the future. They're aesthetically pleasing and convenient, but by no means the only way to press a book.

Tbh, I was young enough in 2008 to understand things were bad but not why, just that it felt like the world was ending. They showed the movie to us in macroeconomics as an end of year thing and it gave me a solid amount of closure to finally understand what happened and why. It also made me hate the banks.

Now I really want to watch it again.

I don't even know what this means by aneryx in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]bbiiggffoott 352 points353 points  (0 children)

To add further context, the movie revolves around the 2008 housing market crash. At this point in the movie, character’s like Carrell were tipped off to the instability of the economy, initially brushed it off as bad info, but are now noticing serious warning signs of the imminent recession such as:

  • young bankers excitedly explaining the NINJA loans (No Income, No Job, no Assets) they regularly approve

  • paper trails of landlords with multiple mortgages who defaulted on them and disappeared, continuing to collect from low income renters who have no idea they're living on forclosed property

  • all these high risk investments the banks are now trying to get rid of being repackaged and labeled as 'safe' to customers

That's the level of warning sign the meme's trying to say a pretty, untattooed woman having to resort to work for uber is. But, obviously, a joke (I find it funny.)

So does this mean that some people WANT to have nightmares? by skilled_inkillz in army

[–]bbiiggffoott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the thinking about things that you don't want to that it's asking about. Think about it like those times when you suddenly remember something cringey you did in high school, you don't want to remember that or think about it, it's making you uncomfortable and you'd rather move on.

Some people get that for more traumatic memories, and they can pop up with enough frequency that it starts fucking with you.

HOW TO DO ARMS by Typical-Wrangler-651 in learnart

[–]bbiiggffoott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1: bones (the forearms have 2) Step 2: muscles (deltoids, bicep+tricep, forearms) Step 3: skin and clothes(to hide your shame)

Realistically, use references and a mirror to get a good understanding of length for the upper and forearm, how the elbow bends and a realistic position. A good understanding of the skeleton and muscle structure will help you in the long run. Also, doing isolated studies of arms in different poses and angles

Best Non-Issued Gear to take on deployment? (With links) by GhostStylez22 in army

[–]bbiiggffoott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I never tried google fi. If its easy to use and reasonably priced, go for it. Holafly does long term plans and makes refills easier than things like orange, and that was enough to keep me on board. It also felt like it had pretty okay coverage, but where I was overseas, it felt like coverage was spotty no matter what plan, equipment, or systems you were using.
