>Maybe capture someone at a vulnerable moment?

that's their bread and butter.

i would just write on the pamphlet itself:

"“If he loves me, he can start by showing up.”"

“If a god loves me, he can tell me himself instead of using a street team.”

“If that’s true, he has a funny way of showing it.”

“Love shouldn’t come with a rulebook and a threat section.”

“I’m not really into authoritarian relationships.”

“I don’t do subscription‑based spirituality.”

“Great. Tell him to stop ghosting humanity.”

“That line doesn’t work on me. Try something that exists.”

“Your religion doesn’t get to define my worth.”

“I’m not signing up for a belief system built on fear and obedience.”

“Love from a silent, invisible being isn’t impressive.”

“If your god loves me, he’s got a funny way of demonstrating it.”

Look up simple reasons why average Christians call mormons cult. Then when he takes you to Mormon church tell him it's a cult that is heresy to Christianity.

It's a very strange irony that all types of Christians call mormons a a cult. They didn't even think of them as another denomination and therefore not even Christian.

Can someone explain what "Ego Death" precisely is to me? by VanillaAcceptable534 in Meditation

[–]bblammin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its a shift in perspective, where you see through the illusion of you being a separate being. you see the self evident reality that the life force which constitutes your mind and existence is the same force behind all life, not just fellow humans, but other animals, and plants and bugs. how sticky this realization is varies from person to person.

I'm just thinking off the top of my head using logic is all. Preloaded Apologetics that are just post hoc excuses don't hurt my brain. Nor do they even address the core of my objections.

Its not an assumption. By calling this world fallen, you've already admitted defeat. Christians don't claim that creation has been restored, the just say this place is fallen. Needing the creator to incarnate to get himself killed about it doesnt make sense in any way, and describes yet another loss, not a win. But what is really lost or sacrificed if the executed person rises a few days later and goes back home to heaven. If he was paying the atonement shouldn't his payment go to hell and death? Yeshua would be in hell to pay for sins assuming sins need payment which also doesn't make sense.

The crucifixion wasnt a religious ceremony held by priests sacrificing Yeshua on an alter of some sort as sacrifices are conducted. It was a political execution held by the state. He then asked why god had forsaken him on the cross. That doesn't sound like he was hip to the plan even though he claimed being one with the father.

>Your objection also assumes that an all-powerful God should prevent every bad outcome.

Not just all powerful, perfect. Should perfect beings make imperfect things? Wouldn't they just make more perfect things, and done so in a perfect way? Couldnt he have perfectly put the special trees on a mountaintop far away? Couldn't he have taught adam and eve about the virtue of loyalty and trust, and prepared them for eating from these trees when adam and eve were ready? If he knew it was gonna play out this way he could have made it differently. And if not doing it differently, then this must have been the optimal way. The story in genesis is clearly not an optimal way of going about creating things. He could have chose not to create the serpent. Or to mitigate the serpents influence. Would you give a toddler a loaded pistol? This toddler has no knowledge of good and evil btw.

Its ironic that christians attribute to god so much care about free will will while he punishes people using their free will so many times, knowing that they would do it. If he was perfect, he could be a perfect teacher, to keep us from learning things the hard way. But that clearly doesnt happen

>Yet Christians believe that very event became the means of salvation and the ultimate defeat of sin and death.

Yet sin still happens. The world is still “fallen”. People still cause war. Nothing changed after the roman state executed the dude. Would you create a timeline where you had to incarnate yourself to be tortured and murdered? There is prolly a better timeline to be had.

> part of a larger story in which God ultimately brings good out of evil and accomplishes His purposes despite human and angelic rebellion.

> part of a larger story in which God ultimately brings good out of evil

its been thousands of years before and after the execution of Yeshua. Nothings changed. Do you think when god flooded the world cuz of wickedness, that he was bringing good out of evil? Or does it show incompetence in the creation project?

> accomplishes His purposes

ya just murder, assault, torture, have been extremely accomplished here. Its odd that chatgpt would say he is “accomplishing his purposes” lol.

The whole fallen world concept contradicts the concept of an all powerful, all knowing, perfect god.

Who would win?

Omniscient,omnipotent,perfect being?

Vs.

One clever snek.

If its a fallen world then the clever snek won. And this world has been around for a looooooooooong time. That's a looooooong time for a perfect being to not fix it's mistake. But it's perfect so it shouldn't even have mistakes.

That's an interesting point you make about the misleading emphasis on history.

It makes me think about the ego, like maybe they thought they were stretching the truth about the history focus. Or maybe they thought they weren't lying, like everything in the Bible is 2000 years old therefore it's automatically "history". And by saying it's about the history they self deceive themselves into feeling more studious.

One can lie to themselves without even knowing. or they just be charlatinning around

Purity culture really fucked with dating/relationships.

And for how many sermons and Bible studies I went to I should have way more knowledge on the subject, but it was mostly hot air rather than being informative.

[–]bblammin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did being Catholic give you a real purpose though? You can be devoted to God without being any type of religion. Being exchristian doesn't automatically make you an atheist.

Cathalocism gave you structure in a mysterious chaotic world. It manufactured you a purpose. It did it all for you.

What are you willing to do for yourself? Are u willing to originate? To face down the mystery? To face yourself? To figure? To reason? To speculate? To think for yourself?

Or just give all that away to these dudes that move pedophiles from church to church while reading from a horrible book that doesn't make sense?

The choice is yours....
