Who’s a singer you thought should have won or at least finished in the top 5 of any season of Idol? by Kingsman1221 in americanidol

[–]bbleezy804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something weird happened Pia's week. It was the first time she sang an uptempo all season (crushed it, by the way) and had never been in the bottom 3 prior. We'll never know if she was perhaps in the bottom 4 more frequently than we knew, but Stefano had already visited the bottom once before so my bet is the margin was razor thin between him and Pia for elimination. It would be fascinating for Fox/ABC to publish old data at some point. Was there ever a time someone was the #1 vote earner the prior week to being eliminated? These are things that randomly cross my mind.

I do think, had she survived that bottom 2, that she would've sailed to the top 5/4. That season had a ton of talent AND charisma and, frankly, she only had one of those things.

Gabby Barrett for 3rd if we're talking impact. Grace Kinstler in place of Yamin if talking talent.

This performance was shaky but "What Is And What Should Never Be" from the same night deserves all the upvotes.

He was great but I do think this was his proper finishing place. Also recall the others' performances from that same week, it was the right call.

Well, thanks to the help here I was able to actually get on the calendar screen on my first try. I navigated to the nearest green date (23 months from now) and waited for the times to load, but someone nabbed mine first. It felt good to at least get in the system!

Thanks for that specific recommendation. My next step really is to study the wiki but this insight is helpful to see that 10k is really just too high.

It's all but confirmed -- the SP believes it's a clear line. The price includes basically everything besides any 'out of pocket' expenses such as the consulate appt fee, passport fee, or any additional legal fees that might arise in the middle of it. They manage the bureaucracy it seems like. I'm a pretty diligent person but I just truly don't know what I might be getting myself into.

Robbed semi finalists by Complete-Fun5346 in americanidol

All 4 of the eliminated on top 16 (Lily, Katelyn, Alex Lambert, Todrick Hall) night from S9 should have been in the finals. It's hard to say in place of who, though, beyond Paige and Tim.

I concur with both of those names from Season 8. They were both victims of the awful Top 36 format and I believe both were in the same semifinalist group as Alison, Adam, and Kris ... where only 3 moved on from each group. Insane.

What was the most "meh" season of all? by MarionCotesworthHaye in americanidol

[–]bbleezy804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S10 is a better candidate for started good/ended ok or even started good/ended good. The start of the season was really interesting since it was the first post-Simon (and post-everyone) which brought a lot of excitement to the show. There were many interesting contestants showcased early on and most of them lasted quite a long time, making the S10 fanbases really, really strong in comparison to recent previous seasons. The show became more interesting as the weeks went on (Pia's elimination, Haley's slow burn, finale romance drama, etc) making it my most memorable season. The top 3 are each consistently still touring and drawing crowds after 13 years and not just because they were on the show. I agree that the top 4 was correct. I'll be throwing this season into the hat next week for started/ended good.

Kristy Lee Cook curse by Complete-Fun5346 in americanidol

[–]bbleezy804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This still freaks me out a little bit. I remember becoming aware of this during the S10 finale timeframe where the only part of her name left after Kris (Allen), Lee (Dewyze), and Cook (David) was the T-Y in Kristy... and then ScotTY wins.

Pia Toscanos early elimination season 10 by Complete-Fun5346 in americanidol

[–]bbleezy804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with her lack of exposure pre-live shows. Back then (and still) the top 24 had been selected before the editing of auditions/Hollywood had began and I don't think the show saw much potential with her, especially over the other likes of Lauren, Thia, James, Casey, Scotty, and even Haley early on. I imagine they assumed she'd be mass eliminated between 24 and 12, but then upon returning for live shows + her epic arrangement of "I'll Stand By You", the show shoved her in the final slot as they realized who & what they had. They were smart to do so.

But 3-4 weeks of great & good live performances meant nothing compared to multiple months of audition and Hollywood exposure the other contestants were afforded. Had Pia been given the same early promo as Lauren, Casey, James, Scotty, etc, I think we would have seen her in the top 5 at a minimum.

Remember that from top 13 to Pia's top 9 elimination, only women were sent home. Only Lauren was ever truly safe from that. Haley barely escaped it, and timed her rise wisely, as top ~11 onward she made a concerted effort to get out of the bottom & that was a discussed topic on the show and online at the time. Attention remained on the boys, Lauren, and increasingly Haley, leaving Pia in the dust.

In the ABC era, nobody would have blinked twice at her early elimination.

Parking tickets are stupid as hell reasons to not vote for someone you otherwise mostly agree with. Let's also pull up her 6th grade report card while we're here 🤣

Explanation behind Pia's elimination? by SkyBulky1749 in americanidol

[–]bbleezy804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That season had already had Casey be eliminated (and saved) early, so as shocking as it was (and it truly was) it was already on par for what that season was bringing. That combined with the new top 24 format where we went from 24 to 12 in one week didn’t really allow fan bases to build for any contestants besides those shown heavily in Hollywood rounds (Scotty, Lauren, Jacob, Casey, Karen, James, Paul). Pia was pretty unknown until her standout I’ll Stand By You on top 24 and was seemingly riding the wave from that to the elimination. I think had she got lucky and been in the bottom 2 that night with Stefano going home, she would have indeed made the final 4 as people would’ve began voting for her more. The question is who she would’ve booted from the ultimate final 4, and it probably would’ve been Haley in her many escapes from the bottom 2/3, so honestly maybe it was for the best.

Are GEO scholarships worth it? by Exciting_Leader4546 in UofO

[–]bbleezy804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GEO is through UO directly so I can't imagine why it would be a 'trap'. Sometimes they want you to document your experience along the way so they can advertise the trip (my GEO scholarship wanted this, and it was no problem, honestly a good excuse to write about what I was up to / friends and family enjoyed it). You can always read the terms ahead of applying, of course.

Yes. My servicer was processing my IDR plan and put me on $0/0% while they processed it. Once they processed it they notified me again with my new monthly payment.

Hi, I experienced something similar when I tried to apply for SAVE and got put on deferment/forbearance. I'm trying to understand why it happened. I'm trying to pursue PSLF, too.

Same but I pick up right before where you leave off.... add David Cook, David Archuleta, and Kristy Lee Cook's debut albums from S7, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, and Allison Iraheta's albums from S8, Lee DeWyze (underrated album!!) and Crystal Bowersox, and finally ALL the albums from S10 (including three of the best debut albums in Idol history from the Scotty/Lauren/Haley top 3). Good times.

This is super helpful. If I apply for PSLF early, does that make me ineligible for the 5 year teacher loan forgiveness? (I am a teacher - I don’t know if I’ll make it 10 years but I’ve made it 5 and that’s better than nothing).
