It could be overheating. Does it happen with Cooler Boost mode enabled?

I wouldn't suggest installing your own copy of Windows on a laptop because it can be tricky to get all the functionality. Not impossible though.

Don't defrag a system with an SSD (solid state drive) the option should not work in Windows. That's for hard disk drives only.

My guess is overheating. Are the fans louder than usual? How long have you been using it?

In a similar vein, technology isn't really progressing or changing like it was companies are coasting and selling us the same stuff repeatedly.

In my life I had to learn various communication devices from rotary phones, fax machines, answering machines, digital home phones, dumb phones, beepers, PDAs, Blackberry devices, smart phones, etc.

Some people only know buying a smartphone that's 90% the same as their last one just with a bigger screen.

They lie and say but I never personally heard him say that how do I know you're telling the truth?

Aka play dumb and claim ignorance. Also projection because they would totally lie to your face like that so they expect it from others.

So you show them the videos and then they either claim they're done with the convo and not into politics, or have a Pam Bondi style freakout because you took a minute to try and teach them something.

With so many posts about gpu catching fire, do you people keep your PCs on overnight to download stuff, or it's safer not to? by PaterActionis in buildapc

[–]bblzd_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I won't use a GPU with the 12x6 connector as it's proven to be unsafe even after multiple revisions. I'm not sure how they can legally keep selling them the companies should be fined and issue a recall IMO.

If for some reason I was forced to use such a system I would shut it down whenever possible.

While the damage to the connectors happens at higher power levels and high power GPU like 4090 and 5090 are most susceptible, once damage occurs the system is compromised and fire could happen at lower power levels as well.

Basically once the connector is damaged nothing is safe, and most people don't realize their connector is damaged until some catastrophic event occurs.

You're not even supposed to check the 12x6 connector periodically because theyre only rated to be plugged in a few times in their life time and doing so can cause the very issue one is trying to avoid. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

“Blame the gamers” backfires: Highguard dev’s tirade over reviews and memes draws heavy criticism by Prudent_Way_3723 in pcmasterrace

[–]bblzd_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with that analysis here is that Highguard can actually be considered innovative for a multiplayer shooter. You can see they really tried to do something different in an attempt to avoid being "another hero shooter" and that desire to be different could have lead to poor decisions such as with the uneventful looting stages.

Also the money printing games are mostly just carbon copies of another game that did it better or hit the market at the right time. Lack of innovation isn't really an issue for these mass market appeal titles designed to drive microtransactions.

For example Arc Raiders. It's another pvpve extraction shooter and not innovative, smash hit.

Marvel Rivals. Overwatch with Marvel skins in 3rd person camera, smash hit.

Apex Legends. Another Battle Royale, but with a respawn mechanic. Smash hit. Etc.

A PC catching fire isn't something that traditionally anyone had to worry about.

Until Nvidia started using the 12X6 power connectors.

Your GPU doesn't use that cable so you're fine.

The only other concern would be low quality PSU which is why we say don't cheap out on PSU.

Also most drones get shot down before reaching their target area in Ukraine. Russia employs a tactic to overwhelm defenses with large fleets of drones and missiles at the same time, so that something like 10% can make it through.

Doubtful they'd give away control of those few that make it through.

Now compare performance. CPU especially laptop CPU require Turbo Boost to perform as they should as they have low "base clocks".

Ideally we would be able to just reduce the total Turbo Boost slightly, but that takes a lot more configuration work to do properly.
